In our clinical practice, most of the patients we serve are in the Hispanic community. The providers must be familiar with the health trends associated with their population to provide appropriate management and preventative care. In this discussion, I will discuss the Hispanic population’s overall health.
Hispanic populations in the United States have a lower mortality rate of 17.5% compared to non-Hispanic White populations before the COVID-19 pandemic (Sarraju et al., 2022). However, the mortality trends of the Hispanic population reversed in Los Angeles County after the COVID-19 pandemic, with higher mortality rates significantly calculated (Sarraju et al., 2022). The study mentioned prospective explanations for the significant increase in mortality rate among Hispanic populations, such as the population living in denser communities and multigenerational households and language barriers (Sarraju et al., 2022). The Hispanic population’s educational attainment according to 2019 U.S. Census Bureau data are as follows: 71.8% of Hispanics compared to non-Hispanics White is 94.6%; 18.8% of Hispanics in comparison to 40.1% of non-Hispanic whites had a Bachelor’s degree; and 5.7% of Hispanics compared to 15.1% of non-Hispanic whites have graduate degrees (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.). Concerning insurance coverage, the Hispanic population has the highest rate of uninsured people, based on the 2020 Census Bureau (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.). Based on 2019 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the leading causes of mortality in the Hispanic population are cancer, heart disease, accidents, stroke, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.). The Hispanic populations also have a higher rate of obesity compared to non-Hispanic Whites (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.).
Healthy Fit is an intervention to address health disparities in the Hispanic community to address health issues, particularly cardiovascular diseases (Brown et al., 2018). The program can cover uninsured, underinsured, or Medicaid patients (Brown et al., 2018). Participants will undergo initial health screening, follow-up interviews, preventative screenings, and vaccinations, and patients who are candidates for obesity or hypertension will receive fotonovelas and health education materials that are culturally tailored for the population (Brown et al., 2018). According to the study, the Healthy Fit project successfully addressed health issues and health screenings in vulnerable Hispanic communities and may expand the project to more Hispanic communities nationwide (Brown et al., 2018).

health literacy is a world-wide issue including here in the U.S. Interventions to provide training, as you say for both patients and healthcare providers, must be relevant to the culture and within the means of the individuals to use the education. For example, access to books and the Internet can be limited in remote areas of most countries. It is also important when considering providing education in countries with limited resources to think about sustainability over time and the ability to reach large numbers of individuals (Meherali et al., 2020).
The Sustainable Development Goals is an effort by the United Nations that addresses issues and risks from a global perspective (Sigma, 2023).
Questions: What is one Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) related to healthy literacy? What is a program that is working on that goal? What is one of the objectives of Healthy People 2030 related to health literacy? What is one example of this? How you collect, manage, and assess data can affect the evaluation of the implementation. If the data collection resources are not functional and/or are not measuring what was meant to be measured, the evaluation and dissemination of results will be flawed. Therefore, it is important to consider how you will assess the data collected and determine if what you are using is working.

Past paper to be used as reference regarding topic – CAUTI. I have been assigned to a medical surgical unit to help with the increased number of CAUTI on the unit. Getting the providers and nurses to work together was initially challenging however keeping that close contact communication with the team frequently helped. Reducing the number of foleys inserted and utilizing external catheters, if the foleys are needed, then frequent Maintenance was observed and everyone was on board. The nurses were new for the most part and intimidated by the Physician providers that hindered communication.
For the sake of this paper we started this project with 20 CAUTIs and now have had 2 which had one from a patient that came in with the foley from a long term care facility and the other was admitted for a period of 97days. I was there 3-4 days a week, met with charge nurses, did device rounds on all foleys, met with the multidisciplinary team attending campus wide CAUTI meeting, participated in RCA on all CAUTI cases. If you can construct some kind of table /chart would be great. Please watch grammar and repetitiveness.
