This is the first page of your EBP Group Project paper.
Instructions:
Work with your group to develop a one-page topic proposal that should include:
Identify the topic for your proposal. Why this topic is important (mortality, morbidity, burnout, medical errors).
Identify the intervention. Why this intervention may work. What is the evidence?
Identify the rationale for selecting this intervention ( gap of knowledge: not much is known, ).
What are you trying to improve?
Why did your group select this problem?
Clear concise justified statement of purpose of the project (the purpose of this project is to investigate the effectiveness of low molecular heparin when compared to regular heparin in preventing new blood clot formation).
The goal for this practice improvement project should be to “tell the story” of your improvement project.
This project should be preparatory work for your practice improvement paper and class presentation (it must be submitted to the instructor for approval).
Use APA 7th ed. for citations and reference page.

Response to “The Impact of Telehealth on Global Healthcare”
I need a response to a peers discussion post.
Prompt:
Discuss how telehealth can impact healthcare on a global scale. What are
barriers to this practice? Use evidence-based research to support your
answer.
In your
response, it is important to be respectful, make your response
meaningful, and express yourself clearly. It is a best practice to
not use unsupported personal opinions, generalizations or language that
might be viewed as offensive to others. If you are trying to extend a
discussion, consider using probing questions. If providing a
disagreement to a peer post remain respectful, considerate, and maintain
an academic tone.
Please respond to this post.
The
quick access telehealth has to offer is a true gift technology and
medicine combined will continue to assist people in need. I had the
pleasure of reading about an organization called Connecting Kids with
Care that uses telehealth to provide care for pediatric orphans awaiting
adoption, as well as other vulnerable children requiring medical
attention (Bigg, H., 2018).
Connecting Kids with Care is a non-profit organization where physicians
volunteer their services to children all over the world with
telehealth. Dr. Hugo Bigg along with other volunteer providers have
found working with Connecting Kids with Care to be a very rewarding
experience that continues to provide the practitioners with an
intellectual challenge that does not always present in their practice (Bigg,
H., 2018). The various medical providers perform the volunteer work
from their home or workplace. These practitioners also assist with
preparing the adopting families with the education and social support
they will require to care for a child that has a lot of complications.
These volunteer practitioners are providing care to children based on
medical records composed of charts, photos, scans, and videos that are
visible with telehealth technology (Bigg,
H., 2018). The providers must also consider that some medical records
are incomplete and must modify their recommendations appropriately. The
volunteer providers appreciate the opportunity to help the children to
live a better life with a loving family. Being able to perform the
visits with telehealth also makes volunteer work for the practitioners
more possible, because they can live their normal lives and even provide
care if they are on vacation. Telehealth will enable all medical
professionals to help people from all over the world with their
healthcare needs.

“Understanding the Impact of Lifestyle Choices on Cancer Risk: A Guide for Informed Decision Making”
Create a pamphlet that communicates the information from the analysis submitted as Assessment 1. Your pamphlet should be appropriate to your audience and informs them of the impacts lifestyle choices have on the risk of cancer.
In this assessment, you will further develop your problem-solving skills as you explore how scientists are using discoveries about the human genome to treat and prevent diseases.
In Assessment 1, you analyzed a data set and then used the scientific method to determine if the data supports your hypothesis on whether lifestyle choices can reduce the risk of cancer. In this assessment, you will demonstrate results-driven skills by translating the study you analyzed in Assessment 1 into a pamphlet that will educate a targeted audience so they can make informed decisions for themselves.
You work as a research assistant at a primary care center, where your role is to ask patients their lifestyle choices (that is, smoking, exercise, environmental exposures, et cetera). Based on this information, create a pamphlet to inform patients the risks of their choices so that the patients can make informed decisions for themselves.
Create a pamphlet that is appropriate for your targeted audience. You may use tools such as Word, PowerPoint, or Publisher to create your pamphlet. If you feel stuck, you can do a Google search to see examples of pamphlet layouts.
INSTRUCTIONS
omplete the following:
Step 1: Interpret the benefits and risks to the consumer using evidence from the course resources or your own study. Provide opinions and examples to support your interpretation and message to the targeted readers.
Step 2: Create a pamphlet appropriate for targeted readers. Use the information from Assessment 1 to fully describe the impacts of lifestyle choices on the risk of cancer. Make sure you include resources for targeted readers who might want to do more reading on the information found in your pamphlet.
When you are satisfied with your pamphlet, submit it to this assessment.

Conducting an Evidence Search for Reducing UTIs in Elderly Nursing Home Residents: A PICO Approach
Conducting the Evidence Search
The purpose of this discussion is to teach students to use electronic databases and methodological filters to select the most relevant evidence to answer the clinical questions. A secondary purpose of this assignment is to teach students to format citations according to the American Psychological Association Style Handbook (7th Edition).
Instructions:
For this discussion, you will use the PICO question you generated for the previous discussion (Use the PICO worksheet attached to this discussion).
Select the most appropriate databases using information from the MDC Library databases. Explain in a short paragraph why you selected each one.
Find synonyms for Population, Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome. Fill out the list with synonyms.
Using the advanced search feature, conduct separate searches for each of the above PICO, using “OR” with synonyms. Check for the number of hits for each search and revise as necessary.
Using the search history feature, combine PICO searches, using “And.”
Make note of the number of hits.
Revise the searches combined, if necessary.
Use methodological filter terms, first for systematic reviews, randomized control trials, cohort studies, etc. Note the number of studies found after applying the exclusion and inclusion criteria).
Limit your searches to five (5) years.
Write a paragraph describing the process ( this is the method section of the literature review).
Title the discussion with the PICOT question.
Initial post: Your post should be within a range of 200-300 words.
Cite your references APA 7th ed. (not included in the length of the post).
To see rubric, click on the 3-dot menu on the top-right side of screen.
Note: Regarding instruction 1 the PICOT question used in the previous assigment is the following: In the elderly population with chronic health conditions living in nursing homes, does taking the patient to the bathroom promptly compared to leaving the patient void in the diapers reduce the development of UTI during every shift?
Note: PICO worksheet attached
Assigment Rubric details:
1-Discusses search strategies (Clearly, succinctly incorporates search strategies, data bases, into text with search terms and keywords)
2-Databases (List at least 3 databases searched (CINAHL, Medline, PubMed).
3-Keywords (ist search words and synonyms for each PICO component using multiple relevant descriptors. e.g., “post partum woman,” “breast feeding/lactating mother” or “breastfeeding mom desiring contraception,” or “breast fed newborn”)
4-MeSH terms (List more than 2 MeSH/Subject terms related to the topic that were used in the search process.)
5-Database limiters listed (Chooses appropriate limits and applies them to the search as needed)
6-Number of potential articles identified (Total results listed from all 3 databases based on the best search result list.)
6-Inclusion and Exclusion criteria: (Clearly describes the search strategy and rationale for inclusion/exclusion criteria.
7-A number of studies found that answers the PICO question (More or at least 5 research studies were found and listed in the references.)

Title: “Managing Side Effects and Discontinuing Antidepressant Treatment in a 59-Year-Old Patient”
Discontinuing Antidepressant due to Side Effects in 59-Year-Old
The Issue: Managing side effects so a patient with good response will remain adherent to the treatment plan.
Patient History
The patient is a 49-year-old married woman with three grown children.
She is moderately overweight (BMI 31) and was diagnosed with non-insulin-dependent diabetes 10 years ago; she is fairly well managed on an oral hypoglycemic medication (glipizide 10 mg twice per day). Three years ago, the patient experienced two tremendous stressors: her oldest child developed cancer (now in remission), and her mother passed away. She suffered a significant major depressive episode that went untreated until recently.
This was her sixth episode of depression; she experienced two major depressive episodes as a teenager, and she developed postpartum depression and anxiety following the births of each of her three children. Five months ago, after she was too fatigued to get out of bed, she sought treatment for the first time in her life.
After receiving education and support from her provider, she reluctantly agreed to take Paxil 30 mg/day.
The patient has experienced a near complete resolution of her symptoms in the last 7 months; however, she has developed unwanted side effects and wants to discontinue the medication. Specifically, she has increased appetite and has correspondingly gained 9 pounds in the last 5 months, with an increase in HgA1c of 1 full percentage point. She also reports excess daytime sedation and anorgasmia (very unusual for her).
What options can you offer to manage these side effects? Be specific.
What education should you give patients about stopping this medication abruptly?
What is your treatment plan moving forward?
Complete a full intake on this patient and then develop a treatment plan using the case study template offered. -
Title: Navigating Changes in Nursing: From Student to RN
