  • Project Topic: Reducing Hospital Readmissions in Heart Failure Patients Nursing Theory: The Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory by Dorothea Orem I believe that the Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory will be a good

Welcome to NUR 600!  The research sequence courses consist of NUR 600, NUR 601 and NUR 622.  The NUR 600 and NUR 601 courses will prepare you for the completion of your Graduate Project in NUR 622.
Begin to think about a topic for your project as you will be starting the work for your project topic in the NUR 600 and NUR 601 courses.  You may want to consider a policy or issue in the clinical setting that requires further research.  In NUR 622 you will work in a group and collaborate with group members in choosing a topic of interest for your project. This may include your specific topic in NUR 600 and NUR 601, or a similar topic.  Based on your topic in NUR 622, as a group you will choose a theoretical framework and complete a literature review.
For your Graduate Project you have the option to complete a QI Project where you conduct a literature review to support a practice change in the clinical setting or a mini systematic review which includes an extensive review of the literature on a topic that requires further research.
In NUR 600 we will learn about nursing theories and the application of theory to the practice setting.  Begin to think about the topic for your graduate project.  At the end of the semester you will be completing a Theoretical Framework Assignment which requires the selection of a nursing theory.  You will need to justify why you feel the nursing theory is a good fit for your project topic.
For your initial post, answer the following questions:
Identify your project topic (this can be preliminary) and the nursing theory you plan to utilize for your graduate project.
Explain why you feel your selected nursing theory will be a good fit for your project.
You will need a primary theorist source (book or article that is authored by your nursing theorist) to complete the theoretical framework assignment. Please cite an example of a primary theorist source for your selected nursing theory.
