For what purposes in each case? 5)What are some of the dangers or pitfalls of giving assessment? 6)What are some advantages of informal assessment over formal assessment? 7)How does assessment fit into the career decision-making process? 8)Why is there a need to take special precautions with the selection of assessment tools for use with members of various kinds of diversity? 9)How can assessment be used to evaluate the progress of an individual client or a group of clients? Second Part: Summarize your treatment of Catalina in a one- to two-page response. *********** Catalina is a 45-year-old single mother with two teenage children. For the past 20 years she has worked as an accountant for a small company. In that role she has focused entirely on budgets, expenditures, cost analyses, and report writing. Her company was recently acquired by a much larger one, and she and everyone else in her department have been replaced by staff from that company. She has been terminated and given 3 months of severance pay. She has come to your office in a community-based counseling center to ask for help in deciding what to do next. In the first interview Catalina asks you to give her “one of those tests that tell you what to do.” You temporarily bypass this request and ask her to describe her work over the past 20 years, indicating what she did and did not like about it. You learn that her primary dissatisfaction in her past job was that there was very little opportunity to interact with people. You also ask about her interest in getting additional education or training for the purpose of being able to enter an entirely different occupation. You learn that Catalina feels strongly that she cannot pursue more or different training at this time due to family responsibilities. You then return to the subject of her request to take one or more assessments. What do you decide to tell her? And if you decide to do an assessment, which do you choose, and why?

  • “Managing Resistance to Change and Improving Team Dynamics: A Discussion on Overcoming Challenges and Implementing Corporate Social Responsibility” “Resolving Team Issues: Implementing Accountability and Consequences for Productive Solutions”

I have two discussion posts that I need to submit for two different classes. They consist of an initial post and a response to someone else’s post. The discussion post is:
Part I: Describe a situation when you were resistant to change. Identify the intensity, source, and focus. Using Exhibit 11.3 in your textbook, Resistance Matrix, which box (by number and statement) describes your resistance? State the situation, fear, challenge, resistance, and how you overcame the change (outcome). Knowing today, would your resistance still be the same, better or worse? Part II: Using your Unit VII study guide, explain how corporate social responsibility (CSR) is related to change in an organization. Provide a specific example of how you, as a manager, would use CSR to affect a change in your workplace. In your peer response, try to offer additional ideas or resources instead of simply agreeing or disagreeing with your classmate. The post I want to reply to is:

When I first started working in the maintenance field I was with the local county as a Trades Worker. I was there for about 4 years, and after I was experienced enough, I started looking for different opportunities that would be an advancement for myself. I then switched jobs for a supervisor position with a local sheriff’s office and have been there now five years. When I made this decision, I fell into box 3, facts about the work environment. It wasn’t that I hated my previous job, but more that I knew my worth and abilities. Making the move was scary at first, but so far seems to have worked out for me. If I was in the position today, I would do the same thing, even today I am still looking to advance my career. Loving my job though gives me the opportunity to be patient for the right situation that I could move into. Corporate Social Responsibility is related to change because as there is change within the environment then the is change within the business. For example, we were just emailed forms if we want to go by different names then our actual names. If I was in a leadership role, I would do what I feel is morally right and best for the company. If that means offering name changes then we would incorporate that, but if it means not offering that then we wouldn’t. At the end of the day, it’s what’s best for the organization.
The second discussion board is :
How are problems between teams recognized? What steps would you take to rectify any identified problems? Explain in detail. In your responses to other students, indicate whether you agree or disagree with their steps, and offer suggestions for improvement.
If no initial posts exist to allow for a response to be made, you may submit an additional initial post addressing another aspect of the unit topic.
The post I want to reply is :

Primarily, I believe that problems are recognized between teams when departmental meetings are carried out. The purpose of those meetings is for team members to address and combat the issues they face with other team members regularly. Problems are also recognized by consistent complaints from team members to management. Almost all if not all leaders or managers have open door policies where you can discuss things that may affect you mentally and emotionally that may contribute to work performance. The purpose is to assure that all team members are performing the best to their ability and is there is an issue in the workplace, especially if there is a lack there of with a specific team members, a manager would prefer to address the issue and create a resolution that will be beneficial to all parties involved. In that case, problems are recognized by managers when employees come forth about issues, especially if the issues are constant with the same team members, and the complaints come from different individuals.
The steps that would be taken is to continue conducting meetings regularly to see what new problems have arise and to discuss whether the provided resolutions created a positive outcome for the previous issues. For example, a team member complains to a manager during the meeting about having to fill the ice bin all the time and no one else does it. This is obviously an issue because all team members use the ice bin for their guests. Asking nicely is not enough. Asa result, the managers have now come up with a productive way by creating a task list for the ice bin where each team members is assigned and takes turns. If that team member fails do their part, they proceed with disciplinary actions. Doing this creates accountability for all team members including consequences.
