This prompt is part of a two-prompt final essay-exam. I will write the first prompt on my own, but the second prompt is listed below:
Discuss human rights in Latin America, with close attention to the spread of human rights norms. How has human rights law changed in Latin America, what were the major drivers, and how does our understanding of human rights in Latin America reflect on the region in relation to the Global North and other international understandings of human rights law?
The essay should reflect the two readings attached and should at least mention Alberto Fujimori and/or Hugo Chavez, as those figures will be the focus of the first prompt (that I will write on my own). It is not neccessary to write the entire essay focusing on only those two figures, but a mention of it would better connect the two in a cohesive response.
