My final project is an art collage on the topic of disinformation. This collage will be printed out piece by piece and assembled manually. Along with my project, I need to provide a five-page essay that describes it and incorporates six sources in total. I will include three sources from my class materials, and the responsibility to find the three additional sources will be on the readers themselves.
Just a little bit about the collage:
Putin is depicted as the central figure controlling the media narrative, shaping both his portrayal and that of Russia. The journalist’s mouth is taped, symbolizing the lack of freedom of speech in Russia, where the term “war” is replaced by “special operation”. This I consider a form of disinformation to their own people. Despite common knowledge of the war, the use of “special operation” attempts to downplay the severity of the situation.
In the background, there’s a subtle image of an explosion, suggesting the reality of war.
Zelensky is also featured, adding another dimension to the narrative.
The hands in handcuffs represent the suppression of freedom and the harsh reality faced by those who oppose the official narrative.
The Russian newspaper slogans such as “правда – truth”, “за родину – for the motherland”, “русская воля – The Russian will”, “победа – victory”, and “русская жизнь – Russian life” reflect the propagandistic messages often used to mobilize national sentiment.

Understanding the Roles and Powers in American Government Part I: Roles and Powers in American Government 1. What is the purpose of the House Rules Committee and how does it impact the lawmaking process? The House Rules Committee is responsible for determining the rules
Part I: Answer four questions based on chapters 7-9 of your American Government textbook and class discussions. These questions focus on the roles of the House Rules Committee and the Conference Committee in lawmaking, the differences and unique powers of the House of Representatives and the Senate, the powers and limitations of the presidency, and the powers of the judiciary within the system of checks and balances.
Part II: Answer five questions based on the essay “Why is the Constitution Not Democratic?” by Dennis Hale and Marc Landy. These questions explore themes like the intentionally slow process of lawmaking, the constraints on majoritarian rule by the Constitution, the concept of stable versus ephemeral majorities, and a historical example illustrating the impact of democratic deliberation.
Part III: Reflect on the course content, discussing two or three key insights you gained about American government and specify an aspect of American government you wish to explore further. -

Title: A Comparative Analysis of Framing and Contentious Repertoires in the Anti-Extradition Protests in Hong Kong and the Congress Occupied Protests in Taiwan
In this assignment you are required to compare between either the framing or the contentious
repertoires of two protest events. The aim is to show familiarity with the basic
principles of social movement analysis, demonstrating how these help understand and explain
ongoing mobilization. If your two protests focus on the same issue, you are highly encouraged to choose protests
representing ‘different sides’ of an issue.
Structure: Begin by introducing the protests and the facet you intend to analyze, outlining what it
is you plan on showing in your paper. Next, explain the importance of your analysis – what can a
focus on framing or repertoires of contention teach us about a protest, a movement, and its
trajectory. Next, compare between the framing or protest repertoires of the two events. You can
present one case before the other and then explain what you learn from the comparison, or you can
bounce back and forth between the cases in order to highlight their similarities / differences.
Make sure to include references to any and all sources.
Please choose a specific event from the movement. For example, you must choose one march to analyze if there are repeated marches during the anti-extradition protests. Similarly, choose a specific protest that occurred in Taiwan.
The protests are the demonstrations (anti-extradition protests) in Hong Kong vs. Congress Occupied(anti-services trade protests) in Taiwan.
It has to be specific protest events, not movements.
Introduction: 1-1.5 pages. Bring in references when introducing the events.
Theoretical background: 1-1.5 pages. Rely on academic
sources.
Analysis: 2.5 pages
Conclusions: Summarize what you showed and what we can learn from the analysis
