Directions: Write an essay of about 2-3 pages in exact MLA FORMAT for each essay question. but be sure to label each question number. The title can be Final Exam.
You may, of course, use three separate MLA headings if you prefer.
YOU DO NOT NEED A WORKS CITED PAGE AS LONG AS YOU ONLY USE MATERIALS FROM OUR CLASS: BlackBoard and of course the textbook.
REMEMBER, CHOOSE THREE QUESTIONS.
1. Using Chapter 9 in American Government, by Krutz, in the textbook in the Course Textbook module, write a SHORT (perhaps 1-1/2 to 2 MLA STYLE PAGES) review of the chapter. What did you learn from reading it? What are some of the most important topics covered? DUE: JUNE 26, 2024
2. Read Article I; Section 8, of the Constitution, which lists eighteen powers that Congress has. Select the TWO powers that Congress has that YOU THINK ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU HOLD YOUR POSITION.
This is an OPINION question based on Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. See the Appendix Section (back) of the Krutz textbook or the web link to the Constitution.
3. Using the notes called POST-1763 CLASS NOTES, select TWO laws that Parliament passed that YOU THINK must have been most angering to the colonists. Explain why you hold your position. If you “quote from the notes use my last name and the page number” (Clock 2). Refer: Class Notes pdf too
4. Read ahead in the Krutz textbook, and write a review of Chapter 13, “The Courts.” What are the main points YOU LEARNED from reading the chapter on your own? Use at LEAST ONE MLA STYLE “QUOTATION FROM THE KRUTZ TEXTBOOK” (Krutz 126).
5. What is ONE CURRENT EVENTS ISSUE FACING THE UNITED STATES TODAY? YOU choose the issue, and tell why it is important. You can get your information from any news source that you want, but your essay must explain the issue, why you chose it, and why you think it is important to our nation today. THIS IS AN OPINION QUESTION, SO PLEASE CHOOSE THE CURRENT EVENTS ISSUE YOURSELF.

“Exploring Key Themes and Concepts in Assigned Readings” Title: Exploring Key Themes and Concepts in Assigned Readings Summary: In the assigned readings, “The Rise of the West” by William H. McNeill and “The Clash of

“Empowering Women through Education: The Impact on Political Participation”
The paper should be up to seven (7) double-space pages long, deal with an aspect relevant to
women and politics, and include a title page and a list of bibliographical references at the back.
(The title page and bibliography page are included in the ten pages.) Select a research question
that interests you and try to answer it convincingly, supporting your views with assigned readings
and other materials pertinent to the subject. Try to be analytical, rather than descriptive; think
of “why,” not only “what” and make an effort to back up your statements with some kind of
evidence more than offer your own opinions.
In sum, ask why things happen the way they happen, do not only describe various situations,
countries and cases. Do not list bits of information, but think critically about them and develop
an argument that is coherent and based on the information you amass from various sources. This
paper should be a piece of individual research whose argument is based on concrete evidence,
not an opinion piece that makes statements without backing. Whether you use the Chicago or
MLA style, your writing style and reference list must be consistent. In other words, do not use
both footnotes and endnotes. If, at any point during researching and writing your paper, you
have questions, do not hesitate to contact me by email or through Moodle.
Tip: Do not worry so much about the length of the paper; worry more about its content and the
strength of its argument. Do not just list references at the back of the paper – use them to
construct your argument, and include them in the body of your paper.
Checklist for research papers:
• Is your assignment double-spaced?
• Did you include the cover page (with title and your name)?
• Does your paper have a clear and distinct introduction, argument and conclusion? Does your introduction state the research question, define the most important
concepts/terms, and briefly mention the steps of the argument (sections of the paper)?
• Did you include both footnotes and endnotes? You should not. Use one or the other, but
not both
• Does your paper read like an opinion piece? It should not. Try to bring some kind of
evidence in support of your argument.
• Is your argument backed by research (other authors)? It should be.
• Did you incorporate your references into the paper or just listed them at the back? You
should.
• Did you include a bibliography at the back?
• Are the references in the bibliography arranged alphabetically by authors’ family names?
• Did you plagiarize or paraphrased anybody else’s work? You should not.
• Is your assignment not longer than ten (10) pages? Please note: Before handing in your assignments, check your grammar and spelling. Proofread
your work and make sure sentences are correct grammatically. A well written paper conveys your
thoughts better than a negligently written text. Plagiarism and paraphrasing are not acceptable,
and you should give credit to authors for their ideas and interpretations. The textbook we used for this class was Women, Politics, and Power by Pamela Paxton. Either the 3rd or 4th edition of the book will work. I need the base of the paper to be supported by the textbook, but any academic sources or news articles can also be used to support the paper. I planned to write the paper on the influence of education on women political participation, but if you would like to narrow it down and specifically talk about one or two countries ( perhaps a contrast one with goof education systems for women and one without) The paper is to be written in MLA formatting with references at the end for everything used please. -

Title: The Terry Schiavo Case and the Concept of Substantive Due Process
Question
The Terry Schiavo case http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/03/25/schiavo.qa/
(Links to an external site).
riveted the nation during the first half of 2005. This case centered on
her husband Michael’s decision to remove her feeding tube, and her parent’s fight to keep her alive. One side of the argument suggests that
Terry possessed a fundamental right to die https://time.com/3763521/terri-schiavo-right-to-die-brittany-maynard/
(Links to an external site)., while the other suggests she had a fundamental right to be given food and water.
Both arguments find support in the concept of substantive due process. The former would point to the concept that there is a fundamental right to privacy under the 5thand 14thAmendments, while the latter would argue that the 5thand 14thamendments guarantee citizens will not be denied life without due process of law.
Assume that a case similar to the Schiavo one reaches the U.S. Supreme Court and you are a justice. How would you rule if both parties argued that their side was supported by the concept of substantive due process? Does one side hold more legal weight than the other? Why or why
not? If you find that substantive due process is not implicated in this
case, how would you rule? Why?
Instructions
Respond to the above prompt with a thoughtful essay of about 1,000 words. Cite your sources appropriately, taking care to give credit where credit is due. Please use Chicago style
