***For my writing project, I have chosen B.F. Skinner as my prominent psychologist. Indeed, I will discuss Skinner’s works on behaviourism in greater detail, including his views about operant conditioning and the scope of his influence on psychology.
The discipline of Psychology: Behaviorism—I will report on behaviourism, which consists of Skinner’s theories and their impact on psychology. Specifically, I will focus on behaviour: behaviour is observable and reinforced.
Special Groups/Individuals: Parents—I would like to observe whether Skinner’s ideas have significantly impacted the parenting styles and techniques they apply, such as operant conditioning and behaviour modification in child-rearing.
Society: Educational Systems There, I will study behaviourist principles in educational systems.
Critical Analysis Letter or Creative Project Overview
APA FORMAT
PURPOSE
Purpose of the Critical Analysis Letter or Creative Project, is to investigate a historical figure in psychology with depth and explore their contributions to psychology, special groups/individuals and society overall. This will allow students to further connect with how psychology’s past continues to influence our present (and future).
CRITICAL ANALYSIS LETTER – OVERALL
Students shall write a letter to a historical figure in psychology and tell them how their concept, model, theory and/or research has impacted 1) the discipline of psychology; 2) Individuals or groups of individuals (i.e., women, BIPOC, therapists) and 3) society as a whole. Letters must critically analyze components of the historical figure’s past contribution in relation to the three aforementioned domains of impact. This is not an opinion paper or summative paper. Therefore, papers must reflect upon issues and themes discussed in class to analyze impact historical figure has had on psychology, individuals and society as a whole. Paper must include research-based evidence to validate analysis of impact. Letters shall be 5 pages in length, written in APA format and provide solution to the issues presented in the letter. Letter is worth up to 50 points.
THE SELECTIONS
1. Select a prominent figure in Psychology (Shiraev and/or Guthrie Text) and develop a strong understanding of their contribution(s) to psychology. Read everything about them!
2. Select specifically three domains of impact you want to discuss. For example:
Discipline of Psychology = Behaviorism
Special Groups/Individuals = Parents
Society = Educational Systems
3. Select research articles relating the domains of impact selected. You may or may not find research that specifically relates your domain to the historical figure. That’s OK! The writing challenge is to make inferences about modern research and your historical figures contribution to our modern society.
THE LETTER
Now that you’ve gathered all the research and data you will need for this assignment, write your letter to your historical figure! You will want to present a BRIEF summary of the historical figures general contribution. This should be a short paragraph (1-3 sentences) and the lead in of your letter (please see excerpt in hand-out). The letter should not be an exhaustive summary of WHAT the historical figure did but rather HOW their contributions impacted the 3 selected domains: discipline of psychology (i.e., behaviorism), individuals (i.e., parents) and society (i.e. education systems). You must use the research evidence and appropriate citations to support what you’re sharing to the historical figure in your letter.

Understanding the Distinction and Impact of Acute Stress Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
.The purpose of the Week 2 discussion is for you to define the distinction between the trauma-induced disorders of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). As part of this discussion, you will also examine risk and protective factors for PTSD as well as how PTSD affects individuals and communities.
Remember to answer the Forum Question by Wednesday and post at least 3 replies by Sunday.
For your Forum answer, please address the following:
1). What are the diagnostic criteria for ASD and PTSD? ( If you were a psychologist, how would you make these diagnoses?).
2). What factors increase AND decrease the risk of ASD/PTSD in first responders?
3). How do ASD/PTSD affect functioning in individuals? How do these disorders affect communities?

Title: Developing a Valid and Reliable Scale for Measuring a Construct: A Comprehensive Approach
For this task, complete the readings for this assignment, and then write a paper in which you complete the following:
Write an introduction that examines the construct, its conceptual definition/s, and related concepts.
Review the literature and the existing tools that measure the construct.
Provide justification for your original scale.
Discuss how you intend to construct the items, cognizant of the basic principles of item pool construction, the necessity of SMEs, the unidimensionality or multidimensionality of the construct, etc.
Write at least 20 sample items that represent the construct you are planning to measure. You may construct negatively-worded items, but indicate these in a chart or table. If the construct you choose has two or more dimensions under it, write sample items indicating which items fall under which dimension. (See for example, the Life Position Scale that contained four dimensions I’m OK etc. at first, but after factor analysis the dimensions reduced to two—I and You.)
Argue for a specific method of running an item analysis procedure.
Argue for at least two specific methods of establishing your scale’s validity (Choose at least one method for construct validity, and another method for criterion-related validity. In criterion validation, it is not enough to simply write that you are planning to employ the method. Be sure to specify the variable(s) you will correlate your scale with.
Length: 10-15 pages
Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards -
Title: Building Multigenerational Communities: Promoting Positive Emotions, Diversity, and Inclusion
Week 3 – Assignment: Interpret Positive Emotions, Culture, and Diversity
Assignment
Due May 19
Multigenerational communities are being built all around the United States. Even Jimmy Buffett has created one in Florida. With such a hectic life, many people yearn for a return to a simpler way of living, where there is very little mental stress and health and well-being are promoted through community gardens, art, cultural activities, and physical health. For an example, review the information on Serenbe, a multigenerational community near Atlanta, Georgia, located in this week’s resources.
After reviewing this week’s resources, conduct further research on other multigenerational communities that promote positive emotions, diversity, a sense of community, inclusion and thriving. How do they attract LGBTQ families or minorities? What kind of activities, resources, worship centers, etc. would be attractive? Be sure to conduct additional research for scholarly articles in the library as well. These articles could be related to these types of communities or how diversity is celebrated in any structure, organized community.
Develop an annotated bibliography with your research results. Incorporate at least 10 peer-reviewed studies from the last 5 years, unless they are historical or seminal. After each annotation, indicate how the study might inform the proposal for your Signature Assignment.
Following your annotated bibliography, include a paragraph that details the primary role of the community and why that type of community appeals to you for the final project. Remember, for the Signature Assignment, you will draft a proposal for developers who build vibrant communities for multigenerational groups. Think about the type of vision you have for this community after reviewing the Serenbe Community and conducting your research for this assignment.
Length: Annotated Bibliography plus paragraph for the Signature Assignment, but not including title and reference pages
References: Include a minimum of 10 scholarly resources
Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards where appropriate. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy. -

Title: The Role and Impact of Meta-Analysis in Personnel Selection: Pros, Cons, and Influential Perspectives
Discussion Board:
Please use the assigned readings, including the textbook, in order to answer the questions below.
What is “meta analysis”: What are its major pros and cons? Find a research article that uses a meta-analysis to study personality assessment to predict performance. Provide a brief overview and the main finding(s). Attach the PDF.
The Principles (SIOP, 2018) speak to the concept of validity generalization. What are the pros and cons of using validity generalization to support personnel selection? Are you more swayed by proponents, such as Le et al. (2007) or the dissenters, such as James et al. (1992) and LeBreton et al. (2014)?
Paul Sackett is a past President of SIOP and is highly published and respected. There are two articles in the Readings recently published by Dr. Sackett and colleagues; get familiar with both. They may influence your answer to the meta analysis questions.
Look at Table 1 and Figure 1 in Sackett et al. (2023). Do they make you want to change anything you wrote in Week 1 about any assessment practices, and maybe pique your interest in any different assessment?
Another past President of SIOP is Michael Campion. At a SIOP convention, he was quoted as saying that we will look back at the last 20 (now 30) years of using meta-analyses and wonder why. Why do you suppose he feels that way? (and still does, in checking back with him.)

Peer-Review of Research Assignments: Enhancing Learning through Feedback
Presentation/Paper Peer-Review
Learning is a social endeavor and I want you to have a chance to share your hard work with others!
To encourage interaction among the class, you will post your Research Assignment Part 2 and also review the work of your peers!
First: Post your Canvas studio presentation here for others to review OR your written research paper
Second: Watch/Read at least 2 other student’s presentations in their entirety and then answer the following five questions in your substantive feedback post to each student (400-500 words per review)
Identify 3 critical take home points from this presentation.
What would you like to ask the author of this presentation regarding what they presented? This should be to further your own understanding.
Offer 2-3 recommendations that clarify how the presenter might change the presentation to make it even more engaging if they present this information again. Consider things like tempo, quality of research, order of material presented, ability to understand the presenter, etc.
What portion of the research presented did you find to be most compelling and why?
Find one place in the presentation to add or even offer alternative evidence from our textbook regarding statements made in the presentation.
Note: it is expected that you will provide helpful, thoughtful feedback. Do be respectful in your delivery, as you provide substantive and thoughtful and critical answers to each of these questions in their entirety. Work to provide solid reasoning for your assertions. Each post should really aim to help better the student’s skills around writing or presenting.
Do not offer your opinion of how the paper should be graded, as this is not your purpose in this peer review exercise. That is left entirely up to the instructor.
On Receiving Feedback:
take it in stride
honestly assess the feedback (for yourself)
really try to be open to how others view your work
learn from it!
This feedback is very important for your learning process and will help meet course objectives. And, although it can be challenging, it is a truly a gift to get this honest feedback.
Important Note: As you already know, your instructor will be grading your paper separately from this and a student’s feedback in this forum will have no bearing on your actual grade for this assignment.
Please Remember:
Consult the course schedule for posting timing.
The associated Rubric will be used for grading this discussion, so be sure to review it!
Attempt to stretch your own boundaries as you contemplate the presentations and respond.
in the bottom will be 2 document of my peers research paper. -
