  • “Reflecting on Motivation: A Personal Portfolio”

Here is the directions and here is the pdf of refrence sheet she has provided. Here is also my QALMRI paper as refrence. Please let me know if you have any questions.
    Directions:
    1) Every essay deserves a title. Create a title for each of your response papers. Make sure you include all of the response papers, including the last one, which will address your thoughts about the Motivational Interviewing Workbook.
    2) Write an introduction. Maybe you will write about why you are taking this course, or why motivation is an important topic. Maybe give a quick overview of the topics we covered. I do not have a set number of words or something in particular I am looking for in the introduction. Introduce your portfolio in the way that is useful for you.
    3) Make a title page:  Give your portfolio a title of some sort. It can be anything that makes sense to you.
    4) Optional:  If you are a graduate student, you may, if you wish, include your QALMRI and any thoughts you have about the QALMRI.
    5) Optional:  Write your thoughts and reflections on the guest speakers.
    6) Write a conclusion:  What did you learn that is valuable to you? What did you learn that is important to you? What would you like to remember? Is motivation what you thought it was?
    7) Add a References section. Your references section should include all of the readings for the term, and it should be in APA format. Notice that you don’t have to create a references page because the TAs generously created one for you. Cut and paste the references page into the document. (Maybe even send Dr. Burney and Krista thank you emails. They are cheering for you, too!) In terms of order of items, the references section should be the last component in your portfolio.
    8) You may add anything else that would be meaningful to you to include. (A favorite motivation-related quotation or poem? Sure! A thought you have that you want to remind yourself of? Yes, of course! An illustration that ties the whole thing together? Go for it!!)
    9) Create a table of contents. Place your table of contents after your title page.

  • Title: “Cultural Comparisons: Exploring the Connections between Social Psychology and Applied Sciences in the US and Another Culture”

Social Psychology connects to various domains and content areas throughout all cultures. Compare the US culture to any other culture and then select either basic sciences (Sociology, Economics, or Political Science) or applied sciences (Law, Medicine, Business, or Education). Identify and discuss three connections between social psychology and the selected science area. Discuss the fundamental motives underlying the behavior that takes place within each culture. Be sure to give examples to connect to the US and your chosen culture.

  • Title: “Contemporary Research on the Effects of Social Media on Mental Health: A Literature Review and Future Directions”

Your Final Project should include 12–15 research articles on your chosen topic and should be empirically based. The articles also should represent contemporary findings on your topic and come from peer-reviewed journals. Your Final Project should end with a summary of the major findings from your literature review and your recommendation of possible future directions that research on your chosen topic may cover.
A superior Final Project demonstrates breadth and depth of knowledge and critical thinking appropriate for graduate-level scholarship. The paper must follow APA Publication Manual guidelines and be free of typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors. The paper should be 10–12 pages, not counting the title page, abstract, or references. Please note that quantity does not always correspond to quality, and a well-written Final Project that includes all of the necessary information can be accomplished in fewer than the maximum number of pages. The Final Project for this course will be evaluated according to all four indicators in the Application Assignment and Final Project Writing Rubric located in the Course Information area.

  • Living with Social Anxiety Disorder: The Challenges, Symptoms, and Treatment Options Living with Social Anxiety Disorder: The Challenges, Symptoms, and Treatment Options “The Cost of Coping: The Relationship Between Social Anxiety and Alcohol Use Disorder”

This week, we studied psychological disorders. Which one of the disorders (choose ONE specific disorder; not multiple disorders or a category/class of disorders) covered in your lessons. Which one do you think would be the most challenging to have and why? Which one of its symptoms would prove to be the most difficult for you? What might be some specific treatment options you could pursue to alleviate symptoms of your selected disorder?  What treatment approaches are supported by the research literature to treat this specific disorder?
The following is the weekly material:
Social anxiety disorder (formerly called social phobia) is characterized by extreme and persistent fear or anxiety and avoidance of social situations in which the person could potentially be evaluated negatively by others (APA, 2013). As with specific phobias, social anxiety disorder is common in the United States; a little over 12% of all Americans experience social anxiety disorder during their lifetime (Kessler et al., 2005).
The heart of the fear and anxiety in social anxiety disorder is the person’s concern that he may act in a humiliating or embarrassing way, such as appearing foolish, showing symptoms of anxiety (blushing), or doing or saying something that might lead to rejection (such as offending others). The kinds of social situations in which individuals with social anxiety disorder usually have problems include public speaking, having a conversation, meeting strangers, eating in restaurants, and, in some cases, using public restrooms. Although many people become anxious in social situations like public speaking, the fear, anxiety, and avoidance experienced in social anxiety disorder are highly distressing and lead to serious impairments in life. Adults with this disorder are more likely to experience lower educational attainment and lower earnings (Katzelnick et al., 2001), perform more poorly at work and are more likely to be unemployed (Moitra, Beard, Weisberg, & Keller, 2011), and report greater dissatisfaction with their family lives, friends, leisure activities, and income (Stein & Kean, 2000).
When people with social anxiety disorder are unable to avoid situations that provoke anxiety, they typically perform safety behaviors: mental or behavioral acts that reduce anxiety in social situations by reducing the chance of negative social outcomes. Safety behaviors include avoiding eye contact, rehearsing sentences before speaking, talking only briefly, and not talking about oneself (Alden & Bieling, 1998). Other examples of safety behaviors include the following (Marker, 2013):
assuming roles in social situations that minimize interaction with others (e.g., taking pictures, setting up equipment, or helping prepare food)
asking people many questions to keep the focus off of oneself
selecting a position to avoid scrutiny or contact with others (sitting in the back of the room)
wearing bland, neutral clothes to avoid drawing attention to oneself
avoiding substances or activities that might cause anxiety symptoms (such as caffeine, warm clothing, and physical exercise)
Although these behaviors are intended to prevent the person with social anxiety disorder from doing something awkward that might draw criticism, these actions usually exacerbate the problem because they do not allow the individual to disconfirm his negative beliefs, often eliciting rejection and other negative reactions from others (Alden & Bieling, 1998).
People with social anxiety disorder may resort to self-medication, such as drinking alcohol, as a means to avert the anxiety symptoms they experience in social situations (Battista & Kocovski, 2010). The use of alcohol when faced with such situations may become negatively reinforcing: encouraging individuals with social anxiety disorder to turn to the substance whenever they experience anxiety symptoms. (Recall that negative reinforcement means that something negative is removed—in this case anxiety symptoms – when a certain behavior is demonstrated – in this case, drinking alcohol or using drugs. Thereby, enforcing the behavior through effective operant conditioning.) The tendency to use alcohol as a coping mechanism for social anxiety, however, can come with a hefty price tag: a number of large scale studies have reported a high rate of comorbidity between social anxiety disorder and alcohol use disorder (Morris, Stewart, & Ham, 2005).

  • Exploring the Intersection of Diversity and Social Policy in Addictions: A Literature Review and Annotated Bibliography

Part 1: Select a topic from one of the following advanced issues in addictions: paradigms, social policy, ethics, or service delivery. Describe your selected topic in detail, including how diversity issues intersect, influence and are influenced by your chosen topic. Explain how current literature contributed to the selection of this topic and provide the rationale behind your selection. This will be the focus of the literature review you will critically analyze for your Week 7 assignment. Part 2: As you review the scholarly research relevant to the topic you have selected for your course project, complete an annotated bibliography to organize your sources. In your annotated bibliography, include the following for each source, as applicable: Article or book citation. Link (URL) for the source. Research method used in the study. Measurement or test used in the study. Major findings. Other findings of interest. Questions you had. Gaps or ideas for additional research suggested by the source. Other notes. 5 pages minimum , APA format

  • The Social Psychology of Leadership Styles: A Reflection on Autocratic Management and Its Counterproductive Effects “Breaking the Stigma: Exploring the Social Factors Impacting Mental Health and Self-Esteem”

This is a short (5-7 full page TYPED) paper consisting of a thoughtful analysis of some social psychological issues.  The choice of topic area is up to you, but will most likely be developed from some idea that you have learned about in this class.  You need only to look at your work/personal/academic life in order to come up with viable topics.  For example, the lecture and reading on obedience may bring to mind some situation where you conformed to someone’s wishes without really feeling that it was the right thing to do.  What do social psychological theories have to say about why you did that?  Or maybe the reading and lecture about  the social nature of self-image will get you contemplating your own self-consciousness (or lack thereof) and cause you to reflect upon situations in which you feel especially self-aware.
Whatever your topic choice, you must enhance your discussion by using the information found in TWO social psychology journal articles.  I would expect you to find articles relevant to your topic, and to summarize the theoretical basis and experimental procedures described in the articles.  The major journals in the field are The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, The Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, The Journal of Applied Social Psychology, The Journal of Applied Psychology, and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.  Many empirical sources can also be found online.  Other journals, such as those found in the human resources, clinical, or educational fields, might also be used, depending upon your topic. (NOTE: Magazines for laypersons, even those such as “Psychology Today”, are not appropriate as a primary source for this assignment.  Websites that merely provide information about a topic, as opposed to websites containing research articles, are also unacceptable.)
The general format of a typical paper would be to spend a page or so discussing your topic of interest: Why does it intrigue you?  What have you seen in your own life or in the observations of the social world that relate to this topic?  Then you would spend two or three pages summarizing the articles you have found.  What is the general history of the topic in the research literature?  What do the authors of the articles you are using hypothesize about the topic?  How do they test their hypotheses?  Who are the participants in the study, and what is the methodology that was used?  What are the results, and what are the implications of those results? You do not have to spend a great deal of time discussing the statistics that were utilized in the research, just summarizing the results is fine.  In the final page or pages of the paper, relate what you have read in the articles to the observations or thoughts you have had about the topic.  What have you learned?
For example:  Let’s say that you are interested in leadership, because you had an especially negative experience working with a manager who was very harsh and unpleasant.  Write about your experience and the way in which the manager was negative in his or her interactions with workers.  Locate two articles in social psychology or related journals about how harsh, autocratic management styles are counterproductive (if indeed they are!)  Summarize those articles, and then reflect back to your original situation and discuss how the management style of your unpleasant boss could have been modified.
I want to make sure that you are looking at a topic for which you will be able to locate sufficient information, and I want to make sure that your topic is explicitly social psychological in nature, so please email me your topic in advance.  Many students are interested in exploring such topics as self-esteem, relationships, and psychological disorders.  Topics like this are fine, but it is possible to make them too “clinical” in nature, such as writing about the origins or treatment of disorders.  You would (obviously) have to make them more about social psychology in order to satisfy the requirements of the paper (such as exploring the social stigma of mental illness, or the social factors that impact the development of healthy self-esteem).

  • “Enhancing Learning: Strategies, Implementation, and Biblical Integration”

    * Introduction: Briefly discuss again what learning is, what effective learning strategies you have used in the past, and hardships/failures in your learning journey.  This discussion should be from your review of course materials but can include your own insights as well.
    * Provide specific concepts discussed in the course (textbook, videos, discussion boards)       that can directly impact learning (both positively and negatively). Be sure to provide specific examples of how each concept directly impacts learning.  Again,
the goal here is to clearly show evidence that you were engaged with
the materials this semester and to clearly reference those materials in
the assignment.  The various videos included a lot of great resources on
the general topic of learning.  Also, consider previous assignments in
this course as were assigned to help you towards this project/paper.
    * Discuss specific concepts that you believe would be beneficial to implement in your learning journey. Be thorough in why these strategies would be beneficial in enhancing your ability to learn better.  This
is a direct extension of one of the assignments and should be
sufficiently detailed to help not only explain the concepts but also
their application in improving your study techniques now and in the
    future.
    * Create a learning plan for future courses (or life in general) that will better optimize your ability to learn and retain information. Describe three specific learning strategies or techniques that you will implement, when you will implement them, and how you will implement them. Be sure to include as much detail as possible surrounding how you will go about implementing these strategies as well as the possible benefits that you foresee if
    implemented.    This
is an important part of the assignment in that it will allow you to
convert your critical and creative thinking about how cognitive
psychology can make you a better lifelong learner.
    * Conclusion: Focus on Biblical integration. Put learning within the context of a Biblical worldview. What does the Bible have to say about learning? Why is it important to implement better strategies for learning as a Christian? How will implementing learning strategies enable you to better serve God and others? Include examples from the Bible to help support your writing.  The
Bible has a lot to say about attention, learning, thinking, and
creativity.  What we think becomes who we are and what we think becomes
what we do so this part of the assignment is not just about looking up
Bible verses but really considering how the Biblical worldview impacts
    cognitive processes.
