  • “Public Health Enemies: Investigating the Risks and Influences of Substances, Firearms, and Food”

    Public health investigation 3 | Public Health Enemies
    Purpose
    In this activity, we are going to discuss some of the major contributors to death and disability in this country. You will choose one of the following topics – substances, firearms, and food.
    Task
    Explore these topics online and then create an infographic including the following information:
    When you think about your chosen topic, what are 2-3 health risks associated with it? (good or bad)
    What industries play a role play a role in the topic and risks you’ve identified (good and/or bad)? Include one example. For example, we know that Coca-Cola is a huge food and beverage industry. How do they and their corporate influence play a role in health-related risks and/or issues (i.e. obesity, diabetes, etc.)?
    What policies, laws, or efforts have been made to address the topic, health risks, or industry influence related to it?
    What can be done?
    Criteria For Success
    Be sure to answer all the questions above on time for assignment to count as complete. Once you have and created your investigation infographic, submit it as a URL (i.e. Canva link or Google Slide link) or a file upload (PowerPoint, jpeg/png). Please do not submit any heic image files as I cannot open them on my PC.

    There is free software out there for infographics. Canva is a great one to use!
