  • Understanding Medicaid Expansion and its Impact on Ethnic and Racial Health Disparities Title: “Exploring Medicaid Expansion: Addressing Ethnic and Racial Health Disparities through Affordable Healthcare Access”

Understand what Medicaid is, how it is funded, and what
care/services are covered under Medicaid. While watching the youtube video, “Medicaid Expansion: Helping
Eliminate Ethnic and Racial Health Disparities” posted by Robert Wood Johnson FOundation which examines the expansion of Medicaid eligibility under the
Affordable Health Care Act (ACA), be sure to take note of and have an
    understanding of the following:
    What
is “FPL” and what are the eligibility levels (for adults) for Medicaid
under the expansion. (Tip: this should be represented as a percentage %,
    with an accompanying dollar amount)
    Who
are the individuals now covered and who is now “left out”? (Tip: Pay
attention to the Eligibility Prior to the ACA, Eligibility as Envisioned
in ACA, and Eligibility Gap in Non-Expansion States graphics,
    respectively).
    How
many states have adopted expanded Medicaid coverage? How many states have
not adopted Medicaid expansion—can you list them? What key action led to
expansion of Medicaid being “optional” for states?
    What
benefits have been realized by states that have adopted expanded Medicaid
coverage and specifically among  different racial populations.

  • “Exploring the Struggles of Addiction: A Qualitative Study on the Journey to Sobriety”

I am looking to write a dissertation focusing on how to improve the effectiveness of substance use disorder treatment. My theory is that eating disorders – such as, binge eating disorder or bulimia nervosa – in adolescents may be at risk of developing substance use disorder in the future. However, there were many articles that did study this question. Therefore, I am trying to change the topic to something that is more associated with social work (like what are addicts’ biggest struggles before becoming addicted to a substance, what are their biggest struggles during active addiction, and what are their biggest struggles after abstaining from their substance of choice). I want to do a qualitative study by interviewing addicts who have over 6 months of sobriety.

  • Assessing Community and Organizational Conditions: A Macro-Level Change Event for [Population Group and Condition] Title: “Exploring Implicit and Explicit Biases in Macro-Level Change Events: A Case Study on a Population and Condition”

I HAVE INCLUDED A UPLOAD OF MY WEEK 3 PAPER FOR CONTEXT TO THIS ASSIGNMENT. Preparation
In this assignment, you will develop a narrated presentation or presentation with an accompanying scriipt in which you assess community and organizational conditions related to the population group and condition you identified in the Week 3 assignment. To prepare for developing your presentation, you must complete the three identified tasks.
    Task 1: Gather Information.
Gather information from persons within the community or organization. Engage with at least five organizational and community members who (1) have direct lived experience as members of the population group, (2) are impacted by the identified condition, and (3) have (or have had) interactions with the organization or community. Find out how they view the situation, their thoughts about the condition, and any historical and contextual information they may have about the situation/condition. In your presentation, you will be asked to develop a condition statement that includes (1) a focal population, (2) a boundary, and (3) the difficulty facing the population (Netting et al., 2023, p. 302).
Task 2: Explore Professional Knowledge Base.
Locate peer-reviewed articles and explore frameworks, theories, and perspectives that will be useful for understanding the condition, opportunity, need, or problem. You will need a minimum of 12 sources to support your presentation. From the literature, you will choose at least one practice approach to further discuss.
Task 3: Identify Conditions That Need to Change.
Compare what you find in the literature to what you found when engaging with the community members. What causal factors can you identify?
Task 4: Consider Your Own Bias.
Take time to consider your own position and reflect on at least one implicit and one explicit bias you hold regarding the population and condition. How might this bias impact your ability to effectively collaborate in a successful macro-level change event?

  • “Reflecting on My Learning: A Readiness for Practice Journal Assignment”

    First Term Assignment Descriptions
    Readiness for practice journal assignment
Five times during the term you will write 250 -300-word reflection on your learning.
The journal entry is about you and your learning and not accessible to any other student. According
to author Tara Westover, “education should ……. absolutely change you.” Here is an opportunity
to give voice to your impressions of course content each week, challenges, or changes in your
thinking, what was new learning, what challenged you, what was helpful or unhelpful and what
    was surprising.
Students should also consider their values, developing social work skills and knowledge and do a
self-assessment on their readiness for social work practice. For instance, how are your own values
and beliefs similar to, or different from those of the social work profession? how does the values of
social work and the pursuit of social justice align with your personal values and beliefs. For many
students their own life history intersects with course learning at times, and this can be unsettling.
How might you be taking steps to grow in comfort with discomfort? What is your critical
analysis? Senator Dr. Wanda Thomas Bernard speaks about the 3As as being a helpful way
to frame reflection. The first A is Awareness-what have your learned. The second is Analysis
and asks you to critically reflect on the issue/s you are considering and the third is Action.
What is your new awareness and analysis calling you to?
These reflections are about your engagement with class content. Value: 2 pts each or 10 pts per
    term.
I will attach the weekly readings and content.
