Bridging Practice and Research
Examine the symbiotic relationship between research and practice. Choose one of the following prompts as a starting place for your post:
Share an evidence-based intervention you believe has transformed social work.
Discuss challenges in applying research to practice.
How do you critically appraise research studies?
Describe the importance of translational research in social work.

Describe what success in couples and family therapy entails and how this might differ from success in individual therapy. In your description, be sure to address specific characteristics you might observe in a successful therapy session or a successful therapy series.
Compare your current definition of success in therapy with couples and families with your definition from Week 1 (WK1 TRANSCRIPT IN FILES). Explain which elements of the course shifted, expanded, or reinforced your understanding.
Given that couples and family therapy is often intentionally brief, describe how you would advise a couple or family who has achieved success to maintain and/or extend the progress they have made in therapy.

Interview Assignment
Select a person whose life was affected by the child welfare system:
• A person who grew up in foster care
• A parent whose child was in the foster care system
• A person whose child was surrendered to the child welfare system
• A person who was adopted
• An adoptive parent
• Someone else approved by the Professor
The narrative must have:
A beginning – and Introduction, i.e., why are you interviewing this person and how did
you identify this person;
A middle – the actual narrative
A conclusion – how do you sum up the interview
Ask the following questions:
• Can you please tell me how your life was affected by the child welfare system?
• How long were you in the system?
• What were the positive and negative experiences of being affected by the
system?
• Was there any situation while you were in the system that stands out for you?
• Was there a social worker in the system that is memorable to you and why?
• What else did I not ask you that you would like to say?
The paper must conclude with – what did you as a student learn from this assignment?  

Submit a 13- to 15-slide presentation that presents a crisis situation of particular interest to you in a specific location, and of particular relevance to the work setting and the service users you intend to serve. Your presentation must:
