For this assignment you will need to select a crisis that unfolded within an organization of your choice. (Please see examples on Canvas if you are not sure of an organizational crisis). You will want to write a case study including the following items:
1. How did the crisis unfold (who broke the story, was there rumors of the problem beforehand, etc)
2. How quickly and in what ways the sport organization responded to the crisis (what media channels were used and why type of media was used)
3. What was the organizations reputation prior to the crisis? 
4. What crisis response strategies appear to have been employed (denial, bolstering, etc.). How do these strategies connect to the organizations reputation prior to the crisis. 
5. Given the gift of hindsight, what would you have advised the organization to do differently, and what might have been the effects of your recommendations? To answer this you will want to look at fans/consumers comments across the media platforms to get a tone for how they responded to certain communication efforts.
Your case study should be a minimum of 2 pages. Be sure to explain your answers in their entirety and cite examples to support. You should also include examples of messages that your organization shared during their crisis management.

For example, sports in the U.S. can perpetuate narrow and limited views of topics such as race
and skin color. Likewise, sports also provide contexts for people to challenge and change such
beliefs—think Jackie Robinson and Major League Baseball.
Each of the Analysis Paper Assignments below will help you study sports, society, and how
they affect each other.
INSTRUCTIONS
Analysis Paper: Introduction to Sport Sociology Assignment
It is often believed that “sports are reflections of our society.” While this statement is accepted as
true, some would also argue that sports are much more than mere reflections of society. Sports
are social practices that actively influence what people do and how social worlds are organized.
For example, sports in the U.S. can perpetuate narrow and limited views of topics such as race
and skin color. Likewise, sports also provide contexts for people to challenge and change such
beliefs—think Jackie Robinson and Major League Baseball.
The study of sports in society allows us to think critically about sports and to work with others to
make sports what we want them to be in our lives. With this in mind, and based on your sports
interests and career goals, answer the following question: If you could change one thing about
sports in your school or community, what would it be?
Your Analysis Paper: Introduction to Sport Sociology Assignment must be completed based
on the following criteria:
• 2 full pages;
• 1-inch margins;
• Double-spaced;

General Periodized Training Plan (one year): Once objectives and an assessment plan have been established for the training program, develop a periodized training and testing outline for one year (macrocycle). The plan should describe the specific training goals, modes of training, and testing schedule for each mesocycle (periods lasting from several weeks to months). The description of the modes of training for the whole year should include details on how training variables (for resistance training and other forms of training) will change throughout the year. Provide rationale for all elements of this section. Use figure 21.5 in the textbook as a guide for your outline, and also include text briefly explain your outline and provide rationale.
Detailed Preparatory Training Plan: Identify a period of time within the training year where a preparatory mesocycle should be implemented and develop a detailed training plan for the entire phase of training. The plan should describe the specific training goals, modes of training, and testing schedule for the preparatory mesocycle, with details of each training session. The preparatory mesocycle should be a time where strength and conditioning is the primary training emphasis and sport-specific activities (practices and games are limited) are limited. Work with your assigned coach to identify a time of the year that is practical and will be the most impactful on team performance. Provide a rationale for the timing of the preparatory mesocycle, modes of training, and testing schedule.

ESSAY QUESTION
Present a case study of a psychological intervention with an imaginary client or client group in an exercise/physical activity context. The focus could be on reducing appearance-related anxiety, enhancing motivation or any combination of the topics covered in the lectures. Begin by briefly describing the client/group and their current situation and why they are undergoing an exercise consultation. Outline in general terms the content of the initial consultation and any follow-up consultations. Briefly describe the intervention approach, the processes involved in helping the client/group develop and maintain motivation and the strategies you adopt, and explain how all of these are underpinned by contemporary theorising in exercise psychology. Students should present a realistic client/group scenario and demonstrate sensitivity to the client/group’s situation and needs. The intervention should be clearly based on one or more relevant theoretical perspective. Where more than one theory is used, they should be coherently integrated and used in a complementary fashion (rather than adopting little bits of different theories piecemeal). The intervention sessions should be outlined in enough detail to indicate what was actually done with the client/group (i.e. describe the processes not just the aims of the intervention). Both the general approach to intervention and the specific strategies adopted should be explicitly linked to the principles of the chosen theory or theories. Presentation of supporting evidence for the approach taken will be rewarded but the emphasis should be very much on applied and practical issues.
