“The Impact of Cultural Appropriation in Contemporary Art: A Critical Analysis”
Final text due before class on Friday 10 May 2024 (sessions 28+29). With the aim of being informed about the topic you have chosen for your exhibition, this task consists in writing an individual text (1000-1500 words) of research on a theme.
In addition to this academic research on the topic, some classwork and homework will be set to develop the exhibition project (in groups and/or individually). In this way, by session 30, the project will conclude in class, with a selection of artworks, objects and/or performances to be included in the show.
1) Purpose
Choose a topic from the given list and plan a piece of research on a particular idea that you want to focus on.
Imagine this text is going to be published in an exhibition catalogue, alongside other essays on different aspects of the same topic. You are the expert in your field, and the research you do is a necessary part of planning the exhibition.
2) Length
1000 to 1500 words (excluding the reference list and appendix).
The length of the paper is not an indicator of quality. Effective writing is precise, with no redundant, pointless, or self-evident information. Repetitive ideas and waffle/prattle will result in points being deducted. Like solving a Rubik’s cube, enjoy putting words together for a streamlined and smooth result.
3) Structure
3.1 Introductory Paragraph
Present the topic of research. If you want, you can write in the first person, and include personal ideas and viewpoints.
3.2 Body Paragraphs (3 to 5 paragraphs)
Each body paragraph must contain useful information that brings awareness on some aspect of the topic. Typically, each paragraph will reference several sources (with correct in-text citations, in APA7 style). Where needed, begin and end with transitions (guide ideas from one paragraph to the next).
3.3 Conclusion – summarize the research and conclude.
4) Sources researched
A minimum of 5 credible sources are expected, for example newspapers and art magazines. At least 1 of the sources must be an article from a reputable academic journal. Research on minority cultures may be harder to find, and this added difficulty will be taken into account when evaluating. Sources can be in any language you speak.
Find diverse evidence. Get different perspectives, to present a rounded view.
Incorporate the evidence into the essay with in-text citations that comply with APA 7 guidelines https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/citations.
Reference list on a separate page (in alphabetical order, APA style 7th edition) https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/references.
5) Formatting
Effort to present the document with great attention to detail will be rewarded.
However, design and formatting that obstructs the reading will be penalized.
6) Appendix: A.I. DISCLAIMER
The use of Artificial Intelligence is not forbidden, but it is not encouraged, on the grounds that it rarely helps to develop creativity and research skills. In all cases, an Appendix must be included, to disclose any use of Chat GPT or any other AI tools, including Grammarly, used during the process of research and writing, whether or not you integrate the output generated by the tool.
At the end of your essay, after the Reference List, include an Appendix titled A.I. DISCLAIMER. On this page, list all the Artificial Intelligence tools you have used. Explain what you used them for, and paste the prompts you inputted, plus how you used the text it generated.
If you didn’t use any AI tools at all, you are still required to include this Appendix, but specify “no AI tools used”.

Project Scope: Community Health Education Fair Planning “Overcoming Challenges: Lessons Learned from Event Planning”
Overview
This is the first of three assignments that, as a whole, will cover all aspects of the project life cycle relevant to your selected project. You will select your project to use throughout the remaining assessments allowing you to build on your project plan from beginning to end.
Scenario
You have been selected to be the Project Manager for a project of your choice. The project you decide to use must be one of a professional nature and must last for at least twelve months. In addition, the project should meet the key criteria of a project, such as:
Has a beginning and an end. (For example, the project begins on January 15 and ends at midnight on January 30).
Results in something being delivered to someone (ensuring your end-user agrees with expectations and you deliver those expectations).
Requires a series of activities that must be done to complete the project (develop WBS with timelines and deliverables).
Requires resources (e.g., people, materials, training, or tutorials) to complete the work.
Note: You are prohibited from using projects that can be found on the Internet, including projects found in places like CourseHero. All project submissions are submitted to SafeAssign for review.
Instructions
Write a 2-3 page paper in which you define the scope of your chosen project. In your paper you must:
Provide a brief summary of your chosen project that includes a beginning and an end, results in something being delivered to someone requires a series of activities that must be done to complete the project and requires resources.
Describe at least three project goals or objectives. All goals or objectives should provide information on how you will confirm whether the goals or objectives can be met.
Describe the key customers and at least two stakeholders for your project. Remember, you are delivering the project to your customers; however, there are others (stakeholders) who have a vested interest in your project.
Describe at least three key milestones and three deliverables for your project and describe what makes them key.
Create a depiction of a high-level timeline that includes key tasks and deadlines.
Provide timelines for each milestone and identify potential roadblocks and mitigation efforts. Include rationale for the chosen timeline and potential roadblocks to meeting deadlines.
List each of the project’s key staffing and non-staffing resources needed and their estimated costs along with an estimate for the overall cost of the project. All estimates should reflect current market pricing.
Use at least three sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate. Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment. For help with research, writing, and citation, access the library or review library guides.
This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The library is your home for SWS assistance, including citations and formatting. Please refer to the Library site for all support. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:
Evaluate corporate strategy and the project life cycle phases to define the project and initiate a project
my topic. My community health education fair planning stands out. At this event, poor community members could receive life-saving screenings, learn about preventative care, and connect with local resources. To carry off this event, healthcare practitioners, community groups, and volunteers must collaborate.
The health fair’s planning and implementation yielded many benefits. First, I gave each team member tasks that played to their strengths to ensure everyone was on the same page. We used sponsorships and donations to fund venue rental, consumables, and promotional materials on a tight budget. Effective marketing and outreach activities attracted a varied audience to the event, encouraging community engagement and participation. As with any project, we came into issues. Since we overestimated job durations, we had to scurry at the last minute to meet deadlines. Second, communication and scheduling issues made it hard to coordinate with food and equipment vendors. Finally, even with careful planning, last-minute changes were needed due to weather issues on the event day. -
“Exploring Urgent Lessons and Recommendations for Climate Change and Biodiversity”
Essay assignment grading rubric
The final essay has a focus on a subset (your choice!) of the information and ideas covered in the reading and discussions – the topic that interests you. Use the Reading Reflections you have already written as notes or a rough draft for components of the essay. First outlinewhat you want to cover (thesis, logical order of topics, conclusion), select the components that fit into that outline, find additional information source materials, organize the components into a narrative, and then revise the writing. In other words, do not just string together what you already wrote. Treat your reading reflections as potential ingredients that you might or might not use in the recipe of your essay. Examples of topics for your essay
climate change and biodiversity [marine, terrestrial, tropical, arctic, forests…]
climate change and sea level change, coastal communities
climate change and the food system / agriculture [global, subsitence, agribusiness, livestock…}
climate justice (this is broad, so narrow even further]
decarbonizing the energy system
pathways to sustainability
For each of these topics you can find one or more chapters from each of the 3 main books that focus on the topic. Don’t forget the lecture slides and their links as additional sources of information. We also watched videos specifically related to these topics and you can draw on those as a source.
This essay should be in the form of a semi-formal paper(not a scientific paper or literature review), such as a blog or web page, or even a lesson plan, meant to inform others about what you think are the most urgent lessons, key take-aways, and recommendations you have received and given in this class. It does not have to cover EVERY topic from the class, it should be selective based on your interests.
A sample structure would be: Paragraph 1) Introduction to topic and three themes (subtopics); Para 2-4) 1st theme (using three paragraphs to cover three aspects); Para 5-7) 2dn theme; Para 8-10 3rd theme; Para 11 Conclusion (summary). (This is just an example. You can use any structure that works. For example you might want less detail on your themes but multiple paragraphs for your ‘conclusion’ that includes take-aways and recommendations.)
What this assignment is not: it is not a research “term paper,” it is not just throwing together what you already wrote in Reading Reflections. What this assignment is: Selecting, refining, revising, organizing material from what you have already written, doing some more research, and weave in new material, and framing it in terms of a topic/themes.
Format: 1,800-2,200 words (~ 3-4 single spaced pages 12 pt font, 1 inch margins). Include your nameand a title at the top and your name in the filename. Use citations or footnotes for any information that is not drawn from the assigned readings.
Use (at least one) additional source(s) of information that did not come from the assigned readings – this could be a scientific article, book, video documentary or lecture, etc. (for example, the essays in AWCS that were not assigned; or the videos that you watched outside class.
