Title: Understanding Vaccines and the Development of the Covid-19 Vaccine

There are very limited treatments for viral infections. Antibiotics are based on specific differences between the bacterial cell and the host cell and therefore are ineffective against viruses. Thus, vaccines may offer the best chance against viral infections by preventing infection in the first place. Normally, the development of a new vaccine can take over a year, and often over a decade, however development of the Covid-19 vaccine was part of a broader strategy (Operation Warp Speed) to accelerate development and manufacturing… such as using vaccine platforms developed for other diseases, large scale clinical trials, and simultaneous testing and manufacturing.
    Address the following:
Describe how vaccines work to provide active immunity.
Briefly describe the stages of vaccine development from pre-clincal testing to clinical trials. No more than 1-2 sentences are necessary to describe each stage (don’t copy and paste huge chunks of information from websites, just briefly summarize the stages in your own words). Feel free to insert an image into your post for a visual.
The Covid-19 vaccine is an mRNA vaccine – what does this mean and how does it stimulate an immune response? (Again, don’t copy and paste paragraphs from websites and instead coherently and concisely summarize how the vaccine works to confer active immunity)
There are various types of vaccines – mRNA, live attenuated, inactivated/killed, subunit/conjugate, and toxoid –  pick one type and explain to your classmates what it is and provide an example of an infectious disease to which this type targets.
    How to Cite your References:
You must professionally cite and reference all sources of information. Include citations both in-text and include a full reference list. As this is a biology class, I prefer that the Council of Science Editors citation style (CSE) be used.
    For example:
    In text Reference (name year):
The incidence and mortality rates of pancreatic cancer have increased globally in the last decade, and it is now the fourth leading cause of death due to cancer (Zhang et al. 2016).
According to Zhang et al. (2016), pancreatic cancer is now the fourth leading cause of death due to cancer.
    End Reference List:

Title: The Relationship Between Aerobic Activity and Heart Rate: A Graphical Analysis

Two pages, not including the title and reference page. The table and graph should not take up more than half a page of space.
    1 inch margings all around.
    Double space.
3 In-text citations needed (APA format).
Below your graph you will begin your written paper. In this firsts paragraph of your paper you
will discuss the relationship (or lack of relationship) between the independent and dependent
variables based on your graph result. In this first paragraph, you will discuss the following:
    • What aerobic activity was performed and how long did it last?
    • What is resting HR and what is normal active heart rate?
    • Explain what the goodness of fit is and what it is in your graph. Does it show a
correlation between the independent and dependent variables?
    • Does scientific literature support the outcome?
    • Does the data show the outcome you expected? Why or why not?
    • What factors could have affected the outcome of your graph? Age, fitness, temperature,
lifestyle etc. may have had an effect on heart rate.
    • Is this result supported by what you read in scientific literature?
You’ll need to cite sources for your discussion.
For example, although you may think that
normal heart rate values are considered common knowledge, you need to cite a source for your
statements as it is a fact that you read somewhere.

“10 Potential Problem/Solution Speech Topics” 1. “We need to address the rising cost of college tuition in our state” 2. “Our city needs to implement stricter regulations on gun control to reduce violence” 3. “We must

Submit your list of 10 potential problem/solution speech topics as directed below.
Before you select any of the following categories of topics, open the eLibrary database (or one of the Persuasive databases below) and verify that there is AT LEAST one photo or chart that matches your topic somehow.
Open Opposing Viewpoints, Points of View and/or SIRS to make certain there are at least three news articles on your topic since you will need at least these articles and the eLibrary image to create your visual aid and outline.
Encyclopedia Britannica will offer definitions of problem topics as well, but DO NOT use ONLY EB to research and write your speech.
I do not need these photos or research database links copy/pasted in this assignment. I only need to know that you VERIFIED your topic is researchable from the collection found in the respective database(s).
Topic can be a local problem, a state problem or a national problem. Avoid international problems–thinking “globally” is too big for this assignment. However, since Dallas and Texas are not known as research hubbubs, you may have to research other cities and states and “infer” that whatever problems they have there we may also have here.
    Examples:
-Body: “We need to drink more water and less sodas” or “We should exercise more to prevent diabetes and heart attack.”
-Local: “A kid at my sister’s/brother’s school was bullied into an attempted suicide, so we need to fight bullying” or “We need a neighborhood watch program on my street.”
-City/County: “We in Dallas need to appeal to city hall to get potholes in streets repaired.”
-State: “Texas needs to build a high-speed rail train from each major city to the next.”
-National: “The USA has crumbling bridges and overpasses. We must demand our Congress raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans to pay for bridges and overpasses that threaten each of us every day with collapse.”
NOTE: Write these 10 proposals as a vertical “grocery” list just like the example list above…but write them AS A PROBLEM. In other words, do not write just “Homelessness” but rather “We need to help the homeless get off the streets in our city.”

IS 350 Mid-Term Project Report: Analysis of Current Events Topic and Ethical Dilemma “Unintended Consequences of Cyber-Attack Retaliation: A Case Study of NJIT’s Ethical Dilemma” “The Ethical Dilemma of Retaliatory Cyber Attacks: Examining the President’s Decision”

This is the next part to an overall project/idea. The first part was a presentation, which I am adding here. This is the second part, the report. The topic is at the bottom and the presentation covers a few ideas already on a couple takes. It will build off of that. Thank you.
The presenation has speaker notes attached for more details, please let me know if you are unable to see them
    Aims
Confirm that you are able to explain beneficial and detrimental ways in which computing affects people, including the primary and secondary effects, and intended and unintended consequences.  For the mid-term you are doing the analysis based on the scenario given and you are analyzing from the idea of doing the action of the dilemma.  For example, what are the benefits of the moral agent doing the action mentioned in the ethical dilemma. Similarly, what are the detriments of doing that action.
    Mid-Term Project
This analysis of the scenario of your current events topic counts as the IS 350 Mid-Term.  This is an individual report.  Each person will do the Mid-Term on their own of the assigned topic, submitting your report to Turnitin via Canvas as your Mid-Term. You will also submit it to the Midterm Report for Grading assignment which is where it will be actually graded.
Note: You may have done an exercise similar to this report.  That exercise was a SHORTENED version of these report instructions.   Follow ALL of the instructions here for your Mid-Term project.
Project – Report Format – all sections must be labelled
    Identification Section
Include “IS 350 Mid-Term”, and (a) your name, (b) section of IS 350 and (c) current events topic.
    Section 1: Description
Describe your Current Events topic AND the scenario /Ethical Dilemma in at least three full paragraphs, as follows:
Describe the topic in enough detail so the rest of the analysis is clear.
Let the reader know in what way this is a current event or current topic, why it is relevant to us.
You must include your Scenario and Ethical Dilemma as this is what you will be doing the analysis of
    Section 2: Beneficial Aspects
Explain and justify your reasoning for 2 beneficial aspects to your scenario. Basically, what are two benefits of the moral agent doing the action of the dilemma.
You must clearly identify AND JUSTIFY each of these beneficial aspects as follows, so that it is clear to the grader:
A beneficial aspect is XXX (and then explain)
    Section 3: Detrimental Aspects
Explain and justify your reasoning for 2 detrimental aspects to your scenario. Basically, what are two detrimental aspects of of the moral agent doing the action mentioned in the ethical dilemma.
Clearly identify AND JUSTIFY each of these detrimental aspects as follows:
A detrimental aspect is XXX (and then explain)
Section 4: SOCIETAL / ETHICAL ISSUES
Here you will discuss 3 Issues that affect society and/or are ethical issues based on the scenario/dilemma that you have assigned again based on the moral agent doing the action of the dilemma.
Use the following formats to clearly identify each item as a societal issue or ethical issue.  The grader will NOT try to figure it out, if it is not clearly identified you WILL NOT get credit for it.
Clearly identify AND JUSTIFY each as follows, so that it is clear to the grader.
A societal (or ethical) issue is XXX (and then explain)
Can a societal/ Ethical Issue also be a beneficial/detrimental aspect? YES – but be sure it is appropriately explained under each heading.
Section 5: Intended Consequences of the doing the action of the dilemma – identify 3
Remember that intended consequences may be negative or positive.
Identify consequences as primary, secondary or tertiary as well as intended or unintended
An intended [primary/secondary/tertiary] consequence is XXX (and then explain)
Can an intended consequence also be a beneficial/detrimental aspect? YES – but be sure it is appropriately explained under each heading.
Section 6: Unintended Consequences of doing the action of the dilemma – identify 3
Remember that unintended consequences may be negative or positive.
Identify consequences as primary, secondary or tertiary as well as unintended
An unintended [primary/secondary/tertiary] consequence is XXX (and then explain)
Can an unintended consequence also be a beneficial/detrimental aspect? YES – but be sure it is appropriately explained under each heading.
    Citations & Bibliography
When you utilize materials you’ve found, be sure to use inline citations within your report (e.g., [1] or superscripts1) that point to the full reference citation in a bibliography at the end of your report (APA or MLA format – see the “Understanding Citations” link on Canvas).  There must be at least three (3) sources cited.
Deliverables – What to Submit on Canvas
Your report should be any length up to 8 pages (not counting the bibliography).  Format this double-spaced with one-inch margins all around, 12-point font, Times New Roman.  The written document is submitted to Turnitin by submitting to the link on Canvas (do not submit directly to Turnitin) for a similarity check and then you will cut and paste it in to the Midterm Report for Grading Assignment where it will be actually graded.
Late submissions will not be accepted unless there are extenuating circumstances and prior approval of the instructor has been received.
    Notes
Use the Grading Rubric (posted on Canvas) as a checklist to double check your report.
Late submissions WILL NOT be accepted and will be given a grade of zero.
Failure to submit to both links (Turnitin and for Grading) will result in a zero for the assignment.

    My topic:
    Cyber-attack retaliation by a company.
Scenario:  NJIT has been attacked by hackers in a foreign country who have taken personal information about staff and students.  NJIT’s Head of Cybersecurity has figured out where the hackers are located and that the hackers are not agents of the foreign country. The Head has proposed to the President of NJIT that NJIT attack back, destroying the hackers’ stolen copies of the information and damaging their equipment in retaliation. But this action is against US law.  The President is considering the proposal made by the Head of Cybersecurity.
Dilemma: Is it ethical for the President to authorize the proposed action?
