In this assignment you are required to compare between either the framing or the contentious
repertoires of two protest events. The aim is to show familiarity with the basic
principles of social movement analysis, demonstrating how these help understand and explain
ongoing mobilization.  If your two protests focus on the same issue, you are highly encouraged to choose protests
representing ‘different sides’ of an issue. 
Structure: Begin by introducing the protests and the facet you intend to analyze, outlining what it
is you plan on showing in your paper. Next, explain the importance of your analysis – what can a
focus on framing or repertoires of contention teach us about a protest, a movement, and its
trajectory. Next, compare between the framing or protest repertoires of the two events. You can
present one case before the other and then explain what you learn from the comparison, or you can
bounce back and forth between the cases in order to highlight their similarities / differences. 
Make sure to include references to any and all sources. 
Please choose a specific event from the movement. For example, you must choose one march to analyze if there are repeated marches during the anti-extradition protests. Similarly, choose a specific protest that occurred in Taiwan. 
The protests are the demonstrations (anti-extradition protests) in Hong Kong vs. Congress Occupied(anti-services trade protests) in Taiwan. 
It has to be specific protest events, not movements.
Introduction: 1-1.5 pages. Bring in references when introducing the events. 
Theoretical background: 1-1.5 pages. Rely on academic
sources. 
Analysis: 2.5 pages 
Conclusions: Summarize what you showed and what we can learn from the analysis
