“Exploring Symbolism and Theme in Fiction: An Analysis of Selected Stories” Exploring the Symbolism of the Snake in “Sweat” and the Book of Genesis: A Comparative Analysis

    Writing Requirements:
All work must be typed/word-processed and double-spaced, with a font size of
12; margins should be of normal size. The student’s name, the date, the title
of the assignment, and my name must be at the top of the page.
    Academic Integrity:
Plagiarism is the unacknowledged use of anybody else’s material (words or
ideas). Any paper with your name on it signifies that you are the author—that
the wording and the ideas are yours, except where indicated by quotation marks
and appropriate citations. Plagiarism is subject to the highest penalties,
    including failing the course..
    Elements of Fiction:
    Characters
    Symbol
    Setting
    Point of View
    Style
    Plot
    Theme
    Thesis for argument
    Body paragragraph
For each story use this sample and apply this for each story
    1. By looking at the car as a symbol of brotherhood.
    2. We can see a representationof brotherhood relationship
    3. This is important because it illustrates the theme the horror of war can break the bond   of   the  brotherhood relationship.
    4. The failed attempt to trigger a fare and reconnect
    5. The horror of wars can devastate the strong bonds of brotherhood causing lasting trauma and emotional wounds.
    Introduction Paragraph: (ESSAY)
    1.
    Introduce
    the story/poem/play you’re writing about.
Ex. “Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurston tells the
story of a Black washerwoman named Delia in 1920’s Florida who must contend
    with an abusive husband.
    2.
    Introduce
your topic. For example, if you want to talk about the snake as a symbol, talk a little about how the snake appears in
    the story.
Ex. One of the ways in which
Delia’s husband humiliates and frightens her is by bringing a snake into their
home. Delia, a meek, churchgoing woman is deathly afraid of snakes, as they
stand for everything which she and her religion oppose.
    3.
    Conclude
your introduction with the Magic Thesis Statement (MTS)
Ex. By looking at the snake as a symbol, we can see a representation of an
evil that ultimately devours itself, which most readers don’t see. Although
the snake begins as a means for Sykes to intimidate Delia, it soon gets free
from it’s holding box, enters her laundry basket and, in the climax of the
story, bites and kills Sykes rather than Delia. It is important to look at this aspect of the text because it
illustrates the theme that karma will ultimately destroy evildoers.
NOTE: Theme should not include mention of the characters in
the story. This is because the theme is where the story opens up to apply to
everyday life, not just the text. Therefore, your theme should be what an
author has to say about a big idea (karma, in this case) generally, NOT AS IT
    APPLIES ONLY TO THE STORY.
NOTE: Be as specific as possible. You don’t want the title
or an element of fiction (alone) or the character’s name to go in the first
slot ever (By looking at “Sweat”…. By looking as Delia….  By looking at symbolism….). Tell us what
symbol specifically you’ll be looking at. It should be one symbol (the frying
pan as a symbol) or one group of symbols (domestic items symbolically). It
should not be multiple, unrelated symbols (By looking at the snake, the house
    and the frying pan symbolically…)
    Body Paragraphs (at least 3):
    1.
    Situate
us in the story and introduce your topic
Ex. In the beginning of the
story, Sykes brings a snake into Delia’s home while she is separating laundry
by light colors and dark colors. This is the first time Hurston introduces the
snake and through her descriptive language we can see how the snake is symbolic
    of Sykes’ evil.
    2.
    Bring
in a quote as evidence to back up you point (in this case that the snake is
    symbolic of Sykes’ evil)
    3.
    Analyze
the quote. Explain how it does indeed go to show that the snake is
representative of Sykes’ evil. Do not end a paragraph on a quote. You need to
    explain/analyze your quotes each time.
    Conclusion Paragraph:
    1. Restate your
    thesis (in different words)
    2. Summarize your
    main points (in different words)
    3. End with a
    personal comment/suggestion for further inquiry
To further our understanding of Hurston’s use of the snake
as a symbol, we may want to do a comparative analysis between the snake in the
Book of Genesis and the snake in “Sweat”.
    NOTE: Do not
write “In conclusion….” Or “In summary….” Or anything like that.
    NOTE: Short
stories are always in quotations: “Sweat” and “A Good Man is Hard to Find”
    NOTE: If a
quotation is long and you only need certain sections you can do this to shorten
it and get to the point:
    “glkrsajgeijgigrqiljglirgiqng … gasijrgnqeignijgrnq  … ljgnqilgnqlin”  (23).
    NOTE: The above
citation structure. Quote, end quote, parenthesis with page number, period.

Title: Identifying Research Methodologies for a Clinical Inquiry

    To Prepare:
Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry. Keep in mind that the clinical issue you identify for your research will stay the same for the entire course.
Based on the clinical issue of interest and using keywords related to the clinical issue of interest, search at least four different databases in the Walden Library to identify at least four relevant peer-reviewed articles related to your clinical issue of interest. You should not be using systematic reviews for this assignment, select original research articles.
Review the results of your peer-reviewed research and reflect on the process of using an unfiltered database to search for peer-reviewed research.
Reflect on the types of research methodologies contained in the four relevant peer-reviewed articles you selected.
    Part 1: Identifying Research Methodologies
After reading each of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected, use the Matrix Worksheet template to analyze the methodologies applied in each of the four peer-reviewed articles. Your analysis should include the following:
The full citation of each peer-reviewed article in APA format.
A brief (1-paragraph) statement explaining why you chose this peer-reviewed article and/or how it relates to your clinical issue of interest, including a brief explanation of the ethics of research related to your clinical issue of interest.
A brief (1-2 paragraph) description of the aims of the research of each peer-reviewed article.
A brief (1-2 paragraph) description of the research methodology used. Be sure to identify if the methodology used was qualitative, quantitative, or a mixed-methods approach. Be specific.
A brief (1- to 2-paragraph) description of the strengths of each of the research methodologies used, including reliability and validity of how the methodology was applied in each of the peer-reviewed articles you selected.

Submit a draft of your research of DOD-specific requirements for an organization’s IT infrastructure and U.S. compliance laws that may affect the firm.
    Scenario
You are a security professional for Blue Stripe Tech, an IT services provider with approximately 400 employees. Blue Stripe Tech partners with industry leaders to provide storage, networking, virtualization, and cybersecurity to clients.
Blue Stripe Tech recently won a large DoD contract, which will add 30 percent to the revenue of the organization. It is a high-priority, high-visibility project. Blue Stripe Tech will be allowed to make its own budget, project timeline, and tollgate decisions.
As a security professional for Blue Stripe Tech, you are responsible for developing security policies for this project. These policies are required to meet DoD standards for delivery of IT technology services to the U.S. Air Force Cyber Security Center (AFCSC), a DoD agency.
To do this, you must develop DoD-approved policies, standards, and control desсrіptions for your IT infrastructure (see the “Tasks” section in this document). The policies you create must pass DoD-based requirements. Currently, your organization does not have any DoD contracts and thus has no DoD-compliant security policies, standards, or controls in place.
Blue Stripe Tech′s computing environment includes the following:
12 servers running the latest edition of Microsoft Server, providing the following:
    Active Directory (AD)
    Domain Name System (DNS)

A research and development (R&D) engineering network segment for testing, separate from the production environment
    Microsoft Exchange Server for email
    Email filter
Cloud-based secure web gateway (web security, data loss protection, next-generation firewall, cloud application security, advanced threat protection)
Two Linux servers running Apache Server to host your website
400 PCs/laptops running Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft 365 office applications, and other productivity tools

Describe the organizational structure and logistical considerations of correctional facilities
Analyze systemic issues that affect incarceration
    Scenario
You are working for Vera Institute, a private agency dedicated to “tackl[ing] the most pressing injustices of our day.” Your work group is writing a grant asking for federal funding on behalf of the State of Alabama Department of Corrections, which desperately needs funding in order to build new structures and programs to combat overcrowding. The piece of the grant you will craft is the statement of need, which focuses on reviewing the ideologies of punishment, explaining considerations in corrections facilities, and analyzing systemic issues that affect incarceration. You have been provided with a template Word Document to assist you in organizing your work.

To begin your statement, you will use research to analyze how the ideologies of punishment influence professional practice in corrections.
First, describe how the goals of sentencing may lead to specific programs and sentencing structures. In your analysis, include each of the following:
Identify the five goals of sentencing. Name and define each goal.
Describe how prison programs can foster rehabilitation.
Describe some of the different goals of sentencing demonstrated through different programs and sentencing structures.
Next, you will explain the impact of sentencing structures. Choose two of the following to explain the impact(s) of sentencing structures:
    Determinate and indeterminate
    Felonies vs. misdemeanors
    Mandatory minimums
    Three strikes law
Then, describe how felony convictions create an unintended “invisible punishment.” Be sure to address the following areas of impact that persons convicted of felonies might face upon release:
    Civil liberty restrictions
    Private sector restrictions
Structure and Logistics of Correctional Facilities
In the next part of your statement of need, use research as you consider the organizational structure and logistical considerations of correctional facilities.
First, describe the processing of offenders in correctional facilities. Be sure to address each of the following:
    The prisoner intake process
Application of the Fourth Amendment to searches and seizures in corrections
    Transitional services and release planning

The different jurisdictions of correctional institutions, including:
    Prisons and jails
    Federal, state, local
The impact of different types of sanctions on corrections facilities
The physical layout of a corrections structure and its impact on corrections processes
Then, analyze the impact of age-related diversity on correctional facilities. Be sure to address each of the following:
    The impact on facilities
    The impact on adjudication, including:
    Juvenile or adult
The impact of an aging prison population on the correctional system. You may consider describing the following:
    Medical care
    Financial considerations
    Systemic Issues
In the last part of your statement of need, you will use research as you analyze systemic issues that affect incarceration.
First, analyze the impact of diversity in prisons.
Address past policies and practices related to the response to increased diversity in corrections. Consider addressing some of the following:
    Mental health issues
    Language and cultural issues
    Issues in women’s prisons
    LGBTQ issues
Next, explain the rise of incarceration rates and strategies to reduce them. Select two of the following events or criminal justice areas to focus on in your explanation:
    War on Drugs
    Parole/probation violations
    Pre-trial detention
Then, describe factor(s) that impact prison culture. Select one or two of the following factors to include in your description:
    Long-term incarceration rates
    Two models of inmate behavior
Sexual violence in prisons (Eighth Amendment)
    Relevant legislation
    Court ruling(s)
    What to Submit
To complete this project, you must submit the following:
    Grant Proposal Statement of Need
Your statement should be 6–8 pages, formatted using the provided template, which provides specific section headings and formatting, and include in-text citations with complete references in APA style in the identified reference section.

Title: Advocating for Policy Change to Address Prevalence of STIs among Adolescent Females in Wayne County, Indiana Title: Addressing Social Determinants of Health in an At-Risk Population: A Policy Proposal for Equitable Health Care Access and Provision

The action plan I have chosen to advocate for is the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STI) among females aged 14-18, specifically chlamydia. According to County Health Rankings and Roadmaps, in Wayne County Indiana alone 472.5 new cases of chlamydia were diagnosed (per 100,000 residents, 2021), with the state number breaking the 500-case mark- which is above the national average. Chlamydia is the most common STI in North America, and can cause infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, as well as risk for cervical cancer. In hopes of combating this, I feel that improved sexual education in the school is key, this will not only give medically correct information, but it will encourage these young people and their parents to seek appropriate reproductive healthcare. My plan is to include providers such as a pediatrician and an OBGYN, as well as a specialized NP in order to provide a sense of reliability and quick access to health professionals. At this time, Indiana has no sexual education requirement. Indiana Code 20-30-5-13 requires instruction in schools on HIV and abstinence as the expectation outside of a monogamous marriage. Without further intervention and policy/code change, STI numbers will rise.
Advocating for policy change to improve health outcomes in the community
Details Professional nurses have the potential to influence health policy by using a collective voice for patient and healthcare advocacy. In this assessment, you will demonstrate competence as an advanced professional nurse leading an interprofessional advocacy action team (AAT) to advocate for population health policy change. You will explore the role of the advanced professional nurse advocating for a policy proposal related to a current health issue for an at-risk population in your community. You will gather and analyze data to identify patients and populations at risk, recommend policy change to improve health outcomes in the community, and identify key stakeholders to serve on the AAT. You will also demonstrate the ability to identify and communicate effectively with essential policymakers to move the policy forward. Finally, you will create a summary of the policy proposal in (I)SBAR format (i.e., identify, summary, background, assessment, recommendation). Before starting this task, you must have completed CAM2 Task 1 and the “CPE Record” associated with that task. REQUIREMENTS Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can be used as a guide. You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course. Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc., unless specified in the task requirements. All other submissions must be file types that are uploaded and submitted as attachments (e.g., .docx, .pdf, .ppt).
    A. Discuss two differences in how an advanced professional nurse advocates for an at-risk population in the community versus how an advanced professional nurse advocates for an individual patient in the clinical practice setting. Include scholarly source(s) as part of your response.
    B. Describe how the advanced professional nurse will apply two evidence-based strategies to promote interprofessional collaboration within an Advocacy Action Team (AAT). Include one scholarly source to support your description.
    C. Analyze data that validates a health issue affecting an at-risk population in the county or state where you live or work. Include relevant source(s) as part of your response.
    D. Describe two characteristics of the at-risk population identified in part C.
    E. Analyze how a specific social determinant of health (SDOH) in the county or state is predisposing the at-risk population from part C to the health issue identified in part C.
    F. Analyze how current policy is insufficient to address the SDOH identified in part E. Note: Current policy may be a county ordinance, county or state regulation, state law, program, school curriculum, health initiative, etc.
    G. Provide a policy proposal to address the SDOH identified in part E. Include scholarly source(s) to support your policy proposal as part of your response.
    1. Describe how the policy proposal could impact the health issue from part C.
    2. Discuss how the policy proposal will address diversity in the population to ensure equitable distribution of resources.
    3. Describe how the policy proposal upholds two provisions from the ANA Code of Ethics. Include relevant source(s) as part of your response.
    4. Describe two actual or potential barriers in your county or state that impede the implementation of the policy proposal.
    H. Provide the name and title of one policymaker with authority to move the policy proposal forward.
    1. Provide the rationale for choosing the policymaker identified in part H.
    I. Describe two strategies you will use as an advanced professional nurse to strengthen your professional practice as a policy advocate.
    J. Create an (I)SBAR summary of the policy proposal using the attached “(I)SBAR Summary Template. Save and submit your (I)SBAR summary as a separate .pdf or .docx document. Note: Refer to the article titled “Using SBAR to Communicate with Policymakers” found in Unit 3 of the Course of Study.
    K. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized. L. Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.

“Exploring the Intersection of Religion and Film: A Literature Review” “The Intersection of Religion and Politics: A Synthesis of Literature on Contemporary Issues” Opening Paragraph: Religion and politics have long been intertwined, with each influencing the other in various ways. In today’s world, this intersection is more complex than ever

I have not found a topic to write about yet but i have uploaded the instructions and a sample paper please verify the topic with me before writing, the chapters I’ve uploaded are some chapters from the Routledge companion for religion and film and they are also sources from class if you decide to use one of them. I also uploaded a workshop
    Objective:
For RLG232 we will think of a literature review as a focus on a particular area of interest that relates to themes connecting religion and film. By zeroing in on specific sources that relate to a theme, issue, or pattern you present your findings as though you would move on to then write a research essay; however, you are not doing a research essay based on the literature review.  While you need to have a topic and specific area of focus, you do not necessarily need to have a specific thesis for this assignment, but you might choose to be that focused.
    Sources:
I recommend that you review the various topics in the Routledge Companion to Religion and Film as a starting point. I would like you to find a topic that is more focused than simply an overview topic as seen, for example, in our readings on Islam and Japanese traditions. You might start with a specific movie and find academic sources that directly or indirectly engage with themes and issues connected with the film. As an alternative, you might be interested in specific themes that you find by doing research and then would be using academic sources as your primary starting point.
    Types of Sources:
Books (monographs focused on a particular topic), essays in multi-author works, and academic journal articles are the three kinds of sources that you must use in the literature review. These should be academic sources (i.e., published by academic presses). Please do not use Wikipedia (except as a preliminary “brainstorm” tool to find ideas), websites, or newspaper sites/articles.
    Number of Sources:
The Literature Review must use a minimum of 7 sources (see “Types of Sources” above). You may use a maximum of 1 (ONE) source that is a course-assigned reading.
    Tips:
As a starting point for your research, try using the online version of the text, find topics of interest, then for each essay click on the “Bibliography” and “Notes” links on the left-hand side of the screen; these will take you directly to the sources that the author used for their particular topic/essay. Searching the UofT library catalogue to see what sources you can find (many may be available electronically, especially journal articles).
If you are interested in a topic that pushes the boundaries of the connections between religion and film CONTACT ME TO VERIFY THE TOPIC YOU ARE INTERESTED Formatting and Documentation:
I recommend that you use MLA8 as the format for your in-text references and your works cited (please see the UofT resource on different formats “Standard Documentation Formats” if you do not want to use MLA8).
You must review the  Writing Centre document on plagiarism “How Not To Plagiarize” during, and just before submission of the assignment. We will check-in during class about concerns about plagiarism and format for the works cited before the assignment is due.
    Tips:
Always carefully record the page numbers for any information you get from a source. Keep direct quotations to a minimum and instead rely more on paraphrasing material (both methods of referencing a source require in-text citations with a page number).
    Structure:
A Literature Review is not an annotated bibliography; your objective is to synthesize the ideas of multiple authors and connect them based on common patterns, themes, issues and arguments.
As with the summary-analysis assignments, one task is to briefly review/summarize the sources you have chosen and identify main arguments. The more important task is to synthesize your sources – bring them into conversation with each other. As you find sources of interest, organize them around approximately 3-4 subtopics. Your Literature Review will ideally resemble a collection of ‘conversations’ that join different sources connected with specific patterns, themes, and issues. Synthesizing means that you should NOT simply write an independent paragraph for each of your sources.
Tips: A general structure of the assignment might look like:
Relevant Title: Not “RLG232 Literature Review” but something that is substantial and tells your reader the topic.
Opening Paragraph: This is the intro to YOUR Literature Review – give a hint to your reader of the topic and what to expect.
Main Body Paragraphs: Depending on how you structure the Literature Review, you will have a number of paragraphs that key in on specific ideas by combining the insights from multiple sources. Synthesis is a major component of the assignment. Do not simply list each source you are considering and discuss them in isolation – bring your sources into various conversations centred on specific themes/issues. See the resource “Literature Review: Synthesizing Multiple Sources” from Indiana University that is under “Files” – “Essay Information Files” for tips on how to generate a synthesized literature review.
Conclusion: You might offer a hypothetical idea of what a research paper based on this review might look like; you might discuss challenges faced in your research (i.e., in finding sources); you might discuss issues with sources (i.e., problems with specific arguments by specific authors).
