Write a 3-page reflection using APA7 citation from the following sources including 1 more additional source of your choice. Please ensure you answer the following questions.
Overview
This assignment focuses on the following quadrants of Emotional Intelligence and asks you to reflect on them as a public sector institution leader.
Self-awareness: Making sound decisions requires an individual to understand how their behavior affects judgment, productivity, attitudes, and more. The best leaders are self-aware of their emotions, weaknesses, limitations, and strengths. For example, a manager who isn’t a good delegator but is self-aware of that shortcoming can consciously delegate tasks more and trust the people to whom those tasks have been assigned.Internal awareness isn’t eliminating emotions from decisions but rather allowing them to work with rationality so they don’t subconsciously affect judgment.
Self-Management: Leaders who make impulsive decisions or fail to control their emotions and lash out can quickly lose their subordinates’ respect. Those unregulated moments can undo any rapport you’ve built — and getting it back is never easy. Emotional intelligence breeds self-regulation that prevents moments individuals wish they could take back.
Increased empathy: Emotional intelligence argues that emotionally intelligent individuals understand their emotional states better, allowing them to gauge others’ emotions more accurately. We learned empathy in this course, which places us in our employees’ shoes, leading to more thoughtful and deliberate decisions.
Collaborative communication: Emotional intelligence allows individuals to understand their coworkers. As such, emotionally intelligent leaders can immediately pick up the room’s tone or group and speak honestly and sincerely to match that tone or mitigate unresolved tension.
Questions
From your lens as a public sector leader and from the perspective of an emotionally intelligent leader, what actions do you take when you become aware that your emotions emerge?

Exploring the Subculture of Sommeliers: A Sociological Analysis
In this three-page (double-spaced, 12 pt. font) essay, you will be conducting a sociological analysis of a subculture of your choice. Find a documentary, docuseries episode, or piece of video journalism, at least one hour long, that documents a subculture of interest to you (see below for examples). Biographical documentaries are not an appropriate choice for this assignment.
You can use any streaming service you subscribe to or take advantage of free streaming services such as Kanopy (sign in with your Bruin account) or YouTube. While watching the documentary, take note of the three elements of culture: material, cognitive, and normative that are portrayed.
Introduction: Begin your essay with a brief (one or two paragraphs) synopsis of the documentary you watched. Be specific about the place, time period, and group of people whose lives were documented.
Body: Describe in-depth the material, cognitive, and normative culture that you observed. Be sure to apply concepts from the textbook throughout. Spend at least a paragraph each on the following elements of culture, as discussed in your textbook:
Material culture: What physical objects are incorporated into the subculture? Examples of material culture to discuss include tools, clothing, and other objects.
Cognitive culture:
Language: What terms, symbols, and/or nonverbal expressions are unique to the subculture? Does the subculture have its own argot?
Values: What are the shared conceptions of what is considered good/bad or desirable/undesirable to members of the subculture?
Beliefs: What beliefs do members of the subculture share?
Knowledge: What knowledge is specific to the subculture? For example, technical or esoteric knowledge.
Normative culture:
Norms: What rules for behavior has the subculture established? What sanctions exist within the subculture to enforce norms?
Conclusion: Conclude your essay with a discussion of what your analysis reveals about the construction of culture as well as how culture both enables and constrains behavior.
Examples of subcultures and documentaries:
Sommeliers: Somm (2012). This can be found on Hulu.
Punk Rockers: American Hardcore (2006).
Antiquarian Booksellers: The Booksellers (2020).
Rock Climbers: Valley Uprising (2014). This can be found on Amazon Prime Video.
Drag Ball: Paris is Burning (1990).
Roller Derby: Roller Life (2016). This can be found on Hulu.
Graffiti Artists: Style Wars (1983). -

“The Impact of Plague on Human History: A Comparative Analysis”
Historians and doctors have much in common. Both acknowledge that the proper study of mankind is Man. Both are particularly interested in the influences which condition human existence. . . . In medical diagnosis, a single cause for disease will often be found. In historical investigation, the causes are likely to be complex. Nothing could be more ridiculous than to contend that disease is always the primary cause of great historical change; but, particularly at a time when the sociological aspects of history are being emphasized, it is worth examining those episodes in which the influence of disease may have been of real importance, especially when that importance has been neglected or misconstrued by more conventional historians.
Frederick Cartwright, Disease and History
Over the millennia, various epidemic and pandemics have greatly influenced the course of human events. This can be witnessed in military and political affairs, in cultural worldviews, in the development of the arts and folklore. This assignment consists of descriptions of epidemics from throughout the western world and interpretations of their impact. In a short research paper consider the following questions and answer them in your response.
Be sure to synthesize (all) the material into your own analysis of the role of plague throughout the centuries. Are the plagues discussed the same diseases? What are their similarities? What are their differences? What effect do these illnesses have on society, culture, politics, and the economy? Are there commonalities to man’s reaction or response to the sickness? What does the reaction of humanity to epidemic say about our species? Is mankind more capable of dealing with an epidemic or even pandemic in one period than another?
Submission Requirements: This assignment must comply with summary format guidelines: Introductory paragraph (what and how you are going to show, describe, “prove,” etc.), multi-paragraph body (where the evidence is used to support your position using in-text citations), and a closing paragraph (what you have shown, described, proved, argued, etc.).
Selected readings from the following are provided from the following:
Thucydides, “The Great Plague at Athens”
Procopius, “Justinian’s Plague”
Documents on the Black Death
Jean de Venette, “The Plague in France”

Title: The Admirable and the Absurd: Reflecting on Role Models, the Meaning of Life, and the Impact of Science during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Tell us whom you admire (parent, sports figure, politician, entrepreneur, etc.). Explain why you admire that person and what you would be willing to do to be like them. Be sure to address the following:
Is this a person like you?
Would you tell others to emulate this person?
What are this person’s weaknesses?
Would you eliminate the weaknesses?
What strengths would you replace the weaknesses with?
What would it mean if Albert Camus was correct – life is absurd, having only the meaning each of us gives to it? Explain your answer in the context of a relativistic world where each person lives according to his or her own truth regardless of the truth of others. Be sure to address this question in your response: Can I give any meaning to life if I do not know Truth?
Explain how you believe science helped us or hurt us during the COVID-19 pandemic. Does science always tell the truth? If science is bought and paid for by funders (it is: https://undsci.berkeley.edu/article/who_pays), how can we trust that science finds the truth and not the ‘truth’ it is paid to find? You might want to consider such questions as: 1) What did science tell us about the vaccines (science, NOT the politicians or media)? or 2) What is the ‘truth’ about the origins of the SARS COV2 virus? -

Applying Deterrence and Rational Choice Theories to Crime Prevention Programs
The theories you will use for this assignment.
Chapter 2: Deterrence And Rational Choice Theories
Modern Deterrence Theory
Rational Choice Theory
Routine Activities Theory
There are 3 Steps for completing the assignment.
STEP 1
Read the book chapter and listen to the narrated slides.
STEP 2
Using the following the Crime Solutions Program DatabaseLinks to an external site. of programs, locate 1 program that is based on deterrence or rational choice theories.
Under Keyword Filter type in any of the theories covered in the textbook and slides.
A list of programs will appear under the search filter box. These are the programs you can choose from. Read the summary to Click on the program Title to read about it.
Under the Program Description there is a section titled Program Theory. Most will have fairly detailed explanations of which theories a program is based on.
STEP 3
Submit the name of the theory and briefly explain how the program practices align with the theory. I provide an example below.
Here is an example of a good submission.
(approximately 200 words)
Name of Theory: Routine Activities Theory
Program Selected: Target Hardening in High Crime Areas (this program may not be used for the assignment)
The Routine Activities Theory posits that three elements must converge for a crime to occur: a motivated offender, a suitable target, and the absence of a capable guardian. This theory emphasizes the importance of understanding individuals’ daily routines and activities to prevent crime effectively. Target Hardening in High Crime Areas aligns with this theory by focusing on enhancing physical security measures within high-crime neighborhoods. By fortifying potential targets through measures such as installing security cameras, improving lighting, and reinforcing locks, the program aims to deter potential offenders and disrupt the routine activities necessary for criminal behavior to occur. This approach addresses the environmental factors outlined in the Routine Activities Theory, aiming to reduce the likelihood of crime in these areas. By making targets less suitable and increasing the presence of capable guardians, such as through community watch programs and increased police patrols, the program seeks to create an environment where criminal opportunities are minimized. This multi-faceted strategy, rooted in the principles of Routine Activities Theory, underscores the significance of environmental design and routine monitoring in effective crime prevention, ultimately fostering safer communities through proactive measures. -

DSM-5-TR Summaries: Third Assignment
Overview
Throughout your career as a counselor, you will be required to assess and diagnose clients. To engage in this practice in a competent manner, you will need to have a good working knowledge of the DSM-5-TR including the general categories and the specific disorders that are contained in each category. This DSM-5-TR Summaries Assignment will introduce you to the more common categories that you will encounter as a counselor.
Instructions
You will have four sets of summaries to complete, each due during a different Module: Week. Each set will contain a 1-page summary of each of the following categories of disorders:
Summary Set 3, DSM-5-TR Summaries: Third Assignment (choose 3 categories from this list; 1 page per category=3 pages of content):
• Personality Disorders
• Somatic Symptoms
• Neurodevelopmental • Schizophrenia Spectrum
You will write a one-page summary for EACH category. Summaries must include:
Overview – a brief overview of the general category. In one or two sentences, identify the characteristic(s) that all the disorders in the category share. (Example: in the Depressive disorders, all the disorders are characterized by feelings of sadness.)
Disorders – For each disorder in the category, write one or two sentences that provide a brief description of the disorder. In the Overview, you noticed what is similar across the disorders in the category; in the Disorders section, you will identify the main feature of each disorder that distinguishes it from the rest of the category (e.g., time frames, severity, types of symptoms, etc.)
Risk and Prognostic Factors – Choose one disorder from each category and provide a brief summary of the risk and prognostic factors as found in the DSM-5-TR. You will organize each summary by using the current edition of APA headings. Start each summary with the category title using a Level 1 APA heading. Overview, Disorders and Risk and Prognostic Factors should be Level 2 headings. As this is primarily a summary of the DSM, you may start your DSM-5-TR Summaries Assignment paper with the statement “All of the following information was taken from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th Edition, Text Revision (American Psychiatric Association, 2022) unless otherwise noted.” When including this statement, you do not need to use in-text citations for the DSM-5-TR. Using other sources is not recommended; however, if you use additional sources, you will need to cite and reference them.
This DSM-5-TR Summaries Assignment must be a paraphrase of the information you find in the DSM-5-TR or your textbook. You may not use any quotations. -
