Ultimately the Linguistic Autobiography will be a brief essay of 750 – 1500 words (2-3 pp) about your personal history and experience with language (what you turn in for Stage 2). Whereas our initial course modules focus on the formal aspects of language, this assignment is an invitation to focus on its function and how it relates to your membership in communities.
For this stage, though, the goal is just to collect your thoughts by completing a questionnaire. Course staff will comment directly in your submitted response (see “Formatting” below) with follow-up questions or suggestions to help you build your observations into an essay.
Provide answers to the following questions with as much detail as you feel comfortable sharing.
Where are you from(China)? Where have you lived(USA)? Who have you lived with(my parent who doesn’t speak english, they speak mandarin)?
Which of these social details do you think may have influenced the way you use language now? Are there other social details that you think are relevant or important?
Is there a language variety you used to know as a small child that you donβt speak so well anymore? (*see note below these questions for some links about the term “language variety”)
Is English, especially the standardized variety used in instruction at this University, something that you learned in school? What do you remember from your experience in learning English?
Do you remember particular comments or instances where your language variety was commented on? Have you ever been praised for your fluency in a standardized variety of language (including but not limited to English)? Have you ever received criticism because of not using a particular language variety?
Are there other languages you learned in school that have been important to your personal development? Are there any you aspire to learn? If so, why?
Is there anything else youβd like to add? Do you have any observations about your personal history and its relation to language that is not covered by the prompts above?
*You can have a look at these pages to get an overview of what I mean by “language variety.”

Title: “Market Shifts and Equilibrium Analysis: The Impact of Income and Fertilizer Prices on the Corn Market”
When completing the SWAs, make sure to follow these submission guidelines. Failing to follow these instructions will result in a grade of zero.
Your assignment should be typed, not hand-written.
Do not include your name or UFID anywhere in the SWA or file name.
Submit your SWA as a PDF file.
The SWA prompt will ask you to include a graph. You MUST include this graph to get full credit for the SWA. You should hand-draw your graph and scan a clear picture of it to embed in your assignment document. Your hand-drawn graph must be clear and precise. Otherwise, I cannot award credit. When drawing your graph, you must:
Use graph paper and a ruler to construct your graph.
Label both axes and all curves.
Identify the specific values of important intercepts and intersection points.
The figure attatched depicts the market for corn. Suppose corn is a normal good and peopleβs incomes increase. Also suppose the price of the fertilizer used to grow corn increases. The effect of the increase in income shifts the relevant curve by 20,000 bushels of corn at every price. The effect of the increase in the price of the fertilizer shifts the relevant curve by 10,000 bushels of corn at every price.
If a curve shifts in response to the change in income, clearly tell which curve and what direction (right or left) while if neither curve shifts give that as your answer. If a curve shifts in response to the change in the price of the fertilizer, again clearly tell which curve and what direction (right or left) but if neither curve shifts, then give that as your answer. Report the new equilibrium price of a bushel of corn and the new equilibrium quantity. Using JUST the initial equilibrium price and quantity and the new equilibrium price and quantity, can you calculate the price elasticity of demand? If so, what does it equal; if not, explain why not.
In your essay, you should embed a graph that clearly depicts (1) the correct shift(s), (2) the new equilibrium price and the equilibrium quantity. -

Title: Addressing the Gap in Practice: A Study of the Specific Business Problem in the Specialization of Business Management Industry and Company Context: Essential Terms, Justification, Framework, and Preliminary Plan for Project in [Specialization] Title: “Building a Foundation for Success: A Recap of Section 1 and Introduction to Section 2” In Section 1, we have established the key aspects and foundational elements of our proposed project. This includes our specialization, topic, problem
1.1 -Writes an expert introduction to a clear topic proposal grounded in a business
problem within the specialization. Presents cited facts, statistics, and statements that are relevant
to the project and topic. Includes a thesis statement that clearly orients the reader.
1.2 –
Note you must have both a general and specific problem in this section.
General business problem β what is happening throughout an industry or larger fields of
participants. How is the problem manifesting? What adversity is being experienced? In other
words, what harm does the general business problem create for the business practitioner? The
general business problem is an umbrella problem under which the specific business problem fits.
Use a current source (past 1-5 years) to cite the general problem and follow with at least two
cited supporting sentences.
Specific business problem β what narrowed group of participants are experiencing the
problem (i.e., a specific organization, a specific type of businessperson, or department). How is
the problem manifesting? What adversity is being experienced?
The specific business problem
is a subproblem of the general business problem. Use a current source (past 1-3 years) to cite
the specific problem and follow with at least two cited supporting sentences.
First sentence: Provide a wow, with information about a significant problem (cite your source).
(For example, In 2020, a global pandemic resulted in a nearly overnight change in business
practices throughout the world (Barney, 2021).
Follow with: The general business problem is ________________________________resulting in
_____________________(the adversity, the harm created by the general problem) (CITE A
CURRENT SOURCE). Follow with a several cited facts about the general problem.
Then, The specific business problem is ____________________________(who, what, where)
resulting in ___________________________(the adversity, the harm created by the specific
problem) (CITE A CURRENT SOURCE). Follow with a few supporting cited statements
regarding the specific problem; including statistics is always good to expose the degree of the
problem; how bad and big the problem is (%, ratio, $ in cost).
Describes a general and specific business problem that is clearly defined and
aligned with the specialization, including what the problem is, who is experiencing the
problem, where the problem exists, the industry context, and the adversity associated with the
specific problem. Includes cited facts and statistics to expose the degree and significance of the
general and specific problem.
1.3 – Describe how this problem within your specialization came to be. First, describe current state of the
specific problem and how the problem got to that state. What is the desired state? (What should be
happening to mitigate or eliminate the problem within the company or industry). Describe the difference
between the current state of the problem and the desired state as the βgap in practiceβ as it relates to the
problem. Cite any sources which state this gap as part of the problem. Be explicit in your statements to
clearly denote what the gap in practice is and include your gap analysis. Ensure that the gap in practice
aligns with the problem of practice. Here are some examples of when, how, and where gaps appear. (2-3 Paragraphs)
Comprehensively situates a project into an industry or company in expert alignment with the specialization.
1.4 – The project’s purpose is a statement about what you intend to study, based on the specific business
problem you identified and the gap in practice you seek to address. By fulfilling the purpose, you
may create new knowledge to inform or shrink the gap in practice. This section will include two
parts: purpose and the project question.
Presents the purpose of the project in expert alignment with the problem, topic,
and project question in the field of the specialization. Includes the project technique, population, concepts or phenomenon (qualitative) to be studied, along with the geographic location written in a de-identified method (Census regions).
1.5 – Define any essential terms related to the industry or company context within your specialization to allow
your reader to understand the specific use of those terms throughout the project. Cite the definitions
using practitioner or scholarly literature; avoid using dictionary or .pedia (i.e., Wikipedia, Investopedia,
etc.) sources (for any reason in your project). Place the terms in alphabetical order. Doctoral Publications
recommends a bold, italics font using title case.
Presents a list of relevant terms and refined definitions that relate the industry or
company context of the project within the specialization. Provides cited high-quality
practitioner and scholarly sources to support the definitions
1.6 – The project justification is your argument, defense, and rationalization for the need to conduct the
project. The basis for the need for the project is the gap(s) in practice, followed with how the outcome of
your project could inform or reduce the gap in practice.
Describe the reason for the project, its need, and evidence to support the need for the project. Describe
the rationale and justification for conducting this project. Support the reason you are going to
potentially spend time, energy, and money to research this topic. Ensure your project justification aligns
with the problem, purpose, PQ, and gap in practice within your specialization.
: Justifies in detail the need for the project within the specialization and describes the
rationale for conducting the project in expert alignment with the problem, purpose, and gap in
practice. Describes who the project outcome is potentially significant and important to and why.
1.7 – A project framework describes, but does not explain concepts believed to influence an outcome. An
applied framework provides a big picture overview of various descriiptive categories or concepts and
how they might relate to one another. The choice of your applied framework will place your project on a
trajectory to contribute towards building an integrated body of knowledge within the specialization
domain.
Using an established framework, model, process, theory, or set of constructs, explain how the project will
be organized and framed. The project framework is an applied, business practitioner framework that is or
could be used to help the business person overcome the problem and shrink the gap in practice. An
applied framework is not a theoretical or conceptual framework based solely on theory or abstract
theoretical concepts. A theory might inform the framework.
Explain in detail how a project framework in expert alignment with the topic,
problem, and purpose will be used to frame and organize the project and guide the data
collection process within the field of the specialization. The framework is an applied, practitioner
framework supported by the practitioner and scholarly literature.
1.8 – The preliminary project plan is your proposed processes, steps, and timeline for your project. This
plan will assist you in determining whether your project is manageable and feasible within your
program timeline.
Use your course sequence map to provide a set of dates and deliverables you hope to meet. Insert into that
map your preliminary plan for investigating, exploring (qualitative), examining (quantitative), or
explaining the gap in practice. Include your timeline for data collection, analysis, report preparation, edits
and iterations, and presentation. Identify key resources and supporting stakeholders. Include anticipated
barriers or challenges.
Describe in detail a preliminary project plan within the field of the
specialization, including the project method and technique, industry or company context,
geographic location, population and sampling, data collection, data analysis, and the means to
collect reliable, valid information to examine or explore the gap in practice.
1.9 – The summary is a recap of Section 1 to remind your reader of the key aspects and foundational elements
of your proposed project and lead the reader into Section 2.
Provide a conclusion which sets the stage for the next section. Summarize the key points from Section 1,
reminding the reader of your specialization, topic, problem, purpose, gap in practice, justification,
framework, company or industry context, and project plan without using copy/paste of previous
statements.
Provide a detailed summary of the critical points of Section 1 and a thorough yet concise descriiption of Section 2 supported by current practitioner and scholarly literature without
using repetitive content. Self-reflects on how the project completion will enhance professional standing, effectiveness, and socialization into the professional community of leaders. -

“Building Trust: Communication and Teamwork in the Workplace” Title: Building Trust in Virtual Teams: Strategies for Success “Effective Business Writing: Strategies for Success”
Building Trust
Dwight thinks that new managers must know how to create and maintain trust with their employees. He views communication as a major component of establishing trusting relationships. Dwight has set up two real situations that he wants his new hires to evaluate and comment upon in a short three-minute video presentation to the group.
Skill #2: Build trust in INDIVIDUAL relationships both locally and at a distance.
In the recent meeting with the new managers, Dwight at Easy Chairs wanted to emphasize the importance of communication in leading.
Dwight reported a recent occurrence that happened in the production department just the other day. Sally Hill was sitting alone at the lunch table when Dwight passed by. Saying hello and getting an unusually quiet reply Dwight stopped to ask if things were alright. Sally said things were fine, but she did not look fine. He wondered if something was wrong. Sally, who runs the conveyor belts on the production line, has been on the job since EC began, and she is very good at her job.
Dwight was right. Things were not good for her on the production line. She was sitting at the lunch counter rather than going back to the floor and her job. It seems that Sally’s new floor supervisor, Jessie, has decided to implement a production efficiency study so that he could measure her efficiency of motion. At first, Sally took Jessie at his word that the study was to see if she could improve her time and therefore get more work completed faster. It wasn’t until she overheard him telling someone else that he was thinking of getting a robot to do her job that she lost faith in him and the company. Shouldn’t they be telling her about this possible change? Is it fair to just announce the change one day and her be out of a job the next? Jessie just lied to her. Not sure of what she heard, Sally consulted some of the other production workers who do different jobs. The said there had been rumors but they knew Dwight and Ike would never do something that drastic without consulting with them. Sally just wasn’t sure. Worse yet, Jessie made her write down all the data for the study and questioned her if she left numbers blank. She lost track often and her work began to suffer. Jessie began to come down hard on her and finally put her on probation. When this happened, she finally confided in others only to find that several felt Jessie did not trust them. Jessie seemed to question what they were doing. Only a week after Dwight began to investigate Sally’s unhappiness things came to a head in the department. Jessie had a team meeting to get at the reasons why production rates had dropped. He talked for 30 minutes. He asked for people’s opinions and no one would reply. One person asked permission to speak but asked only if the study would take much longer. Finally, Jessie dismissed the team. Jessie did not understand; when he first arrived everyone was happy and helpful. Hadn’t he always been straight with them? Why was everyone so unhappy now? Jessie finally saw that he had a problem, but he wasn’t quite sure what it was. Dwight approached Jessie a few days after the meeting and asked him if the rumors he heard about using robots to replace some of the production workers were true; Jessie finally knew what was wrong. Do you?Skill #3: Build trust in TEAM relationships both locally and at a distance. In week one Dwight and Ike explained that EC expanded into the Asian Market. They are concerned that things could be going better for the distributors if they had better teamwork with the groups in Japan and Korea. The current EC teams report that the Asian teams seem quiet when they meet and are not as quick to respond to the new plans. Personal “chit-chat” is at a minimum and seems to be one-sided. The EC teams are getting stressed out because they are always taking calls either late at night or early in the morning to catch the Japanese/South Korean working hours. Overall, they just feel that they are being tested and are coming up wanting. Creating trust in a virtual team, especially those with members from abroad, is particularly hard. How can you help the EC team be successful? Show Dwight how you would set up a new international team and how you might help the existing teams now.
He would like you to create a six-slide voice-over PowerPoint (not including title and reference slide) with a transcript in the NOTES Section that will outline a more in-depth presentation you would make to the employees regarding the issue. The PPT should include:
Directions: By SATURDAY, complete the following:
Create a six-slide presentation (not including the title and reference slides) with voice-over to present your conclusions on resolving the issues of trust in the two scenarios.
Make sure that you have adequate NOTES for each slide that serves as your transcript for the voice-over component. This should be in the NOTES section below each slide in the presentation, and it must be written in proper paragraph and APA format.
Scenario one should seek to comment on the following points: Identify and explain the trust issues that Jessie has with his direct report. How did he create this problem? What can he do to correct the issue?
Scenario two should explain to Dwight how to set up a successful team, establish trust in a culturally diverse environment. It should also include ways now to bolster the trust in the existing teams. Explain the influence of cultural IQ in virtual meetings and how and why it can cloud success. In the discussion of the Asian teams, research the cultural differences in creating trust relationships between Americans and the Japanese and South Koreans. Explain specifically how this relates to the experience of the EC team members. Identifying and describing the steps that should be taken by team members to make the virtual experience work. This template should be something that all teams can follow in the future. Be sure to include a step for cultural diversity if these virtual meetings are cross-cultural. Explain why and how these steps will create trust in the relationship.
Both scenarios should include a detailed discussion of the communications issues present and how best to address them for better relationships in the future.
You must use course material to support your responses and APA in-text citations with a reference list. THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, complete the following:Respond to your classmates three or more days throughout the week. Remember you are trying to develop the best answers to the questions as possible. Your classmates are doing the same so read the posts carefully looking for the best ideas being presented. The goal is that by the end of the week the class will come to some consensus as to the best answers giving you the chance to submit the best ideas in the final post.
You must use course material to support your responses but you do not need to use APA in the brainstorming discussion with the exception of Saturday’s initial first impression post.
Participation must be reflected in the final post so grades will be affected by the content portion of the post if participation is not shown. Therefore, it is important to get in the class often and with the idea of improving your initial post with the discussion so that the final grade will be the best you can deliver.
By TUESDAY, complete the following:Attach your final post in the classroom by 11:59 PM ET.
The final post must reflect the brainstorming activities and should be different than the Saturday initial post.
The final post must include a variety of sources from the class material as well as the use of scenario or case study facts where appropriate.
It must USE APA in-text citations and reference slide
