Annotated Timeline of American History 1452 Pope Nicholas V issues Papal Bull (a ruling by the Pope) declaring that people taken as captives in a just war can be enslaved (permanently, including future children). (Lepore “The Complexities of Colonial America: Exploring Key Events and Figures from 1542-1683” “The Colonial Defiance: A Look at Key Events and Conflicts in Pre-Revolutionary America” “The Road to Revolution: Events and Influences Leading to American Independence”
This take-home midterm allows you to fill out your own annotated timeline of American history so that you can (1) See cause and effect between important historical events within the Atlantic World and the colonies that would become the United States in 1775-1776 (2) generally locate events in time, and (3) see the slow emergence of human rights from the “Old Truths.”At the end of each entry, please briefly note your sources in parentheses at the end. Example: (Lepore 23, class lectures, and PPT slide #45).
In addition to the entries I have explained, find 15 events taken from Jill Lepore’s These Truths (or other official readings) that I did not include on the timeline that you feel are both important and interesting. Find 10 Events from other assigned readings like Gary Nash’s two articles or my video lectures. Since Lepore does not always give dates, you may have to figure out the dateby a google search. Then place this entry at the appropriate chronological point on YOUR annotated timeline. Place an asterisk after the date for each of your Lepore entries (or you will not receive credit for them) like this [ 1774*]. Place two asterisks on other choices from Gary Nash or other readings/videos. Use as much direct quoting as possible.
Plan for an 8-hour investment here. This works best if you work gradually through the semester rather than cram it all in at the end. I recommend that you print a version out to keep track of it as you work through the assignments.
How to Answer: Annotated timelines should be concise and accurate. 1-4 sentences. Less can be more here—but you want a complete answer. Make every word count. Eliminate fluff and redundancy.
Methods to Get Good Answers:
1. Watch the 2020 Lecture series as assigned.
2. Consult the Lecture Note powerpoints. These are mostly searchable.
3. Check out the Lepore Index. Then go to her text.
4. Seach Shi electronic text.
5. Use quotes from Lectures, Lepore, Shi, Nash and other assigned materials to impress.
Grade: You are expected to get 95-100 percent of the answers correct here. I am grading you on the quality of the answers and your additions to the timeline from your selections of Lepore’s These Truths.
Check with Me: Let’s say you are starting your timeline and are uncertain how to do a good job. You can text me at 814-321-2434.
Some entries are free spaces and have no work needed from you. This is, after all, a collaborative exercise.

1619 The Jamestown colony purchases 20-30 Africans from English privateers who had taken them from a Spanish ship. “Improving Organizational or Patient Outcomes: An Interdisciplinary Team Approach” “Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Resource Management for Organizational Health: A Plan for Success”
In addition to summarizing the key points of Assessments 2 and 3, you will provide stakeholders and/or leadership with an overview of project specifics as well as how success would be evaluated—you will essentially be presenting a discussion of the Plan, Do, and Study parts of the PDSA cycle. Again, you will not be expected to execute the project, so you will not have any results to study. However, by carefully examining the ways in which your plan could be carried out and evaluated, you will get some of the experience of the thinking required for PDSA.
When creating your PowerPoint for this assessment, it is important to keep in mind the target audience: your interviewee’s organizational leadership. The overall goal of this assessment is to create a presentation that your interviewee could potentially give in his or her organization.
Instructions
Be sure that your plan addresses the following, which corresponds to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. Please study the scoring guide carefully so you understand what is needed for a distinguished score.
Explain an organizational or patient issue for which a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach would help achieve a specific improvement goal.
Summarize an evidence-based interdisciplinary plan to address an organizational or patient issue.
Explain how the interdisciplinary plan could be implemented and how the human and financial resources would be managed.
Propose evidence-based criteria that could be used to evaluate the degree to which the project was successful in achieving the improvement goal.
Communicate the PowerPoint presentation of the interdisciplinary improvement plan to stakeholders in a professional manner, with writing that is clear, logically organized, and respectful with correct grammar and spelling using current APA style.
There are various ways to structure your presentation; following is one example:
Part 1: Organizational or Patient Issue.
What is the issue that you are trying to solve or improve?
Why should the audience care about solving it?
Part 2: Relevance of an Interdisciplinary Team Approach.
Why is using an interdisciplinary team relevant, or the best approach, to addressing the issue?
How will it help to achieve improved outcomes or reach a goal?
Part 3: Interdisciplinary Plan Summary.
What is the objective?
How likely is it to work?
What will the interdisciplinary team do?
Part 4: Implementation and Resource Management.
How could the plan be implemented to ensure effective use of resources?
How could the plan be managed to ensure that resources were not wasted?
How does the plan justify the resource expenditure?
Part 5: Evaluation.
What would a successful outcome of the project look like?
What are the criteria that could be used to measure that success?
How could this be used to show the degree of success?
Again, keep in mind that your audience for this presentation is a specific group (or groups) at your interviewee’s organization and tailor your language and messaging accordingly. Remember, also, that another person will ultimately be giving the presentation. Include thorough speaker’s notes that flesh out the bullet points on each slide.
Additional Requirements
Number of slides: Plan on using one or two slides for each part of your presentation as needed, so the content of your presentation will be 8–12 slides in length. Remember that slides should contain concise talking points, and you will use presenter’s notes to go into detail. Be sure to include a reference slide as the last slide of your presentation.
Number of references: Cite a minimum of 3 sources of scholarly or professional evidence that support your central ideas. Resources should be no more than five years old.
APA formatting: Make sure that in-text citations on your slides and in your notes pages and reference slide reflect current APA Style and Format.
Portfolio Prompt: Remember to save the final assessment to your ePortfolio so that you may refer to it as you complete the final Capstone course.
Competencies Measured
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and scoring guide criteria:
Competency 1: Explain strategies for managing human and financial resources to promote organizational health.
Explain how the interdisciplinary plan could be implemented and how the human and financial resources would be managed.
Competency 2: Explain how interdisciplinary collaboration can be used to achieve desired patient and systems outcomes.
Explain an organizational or patient issue for which a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach would help achieve a specific improvement goal.
Competency 3: Describe ways to incorporate evidence-based practice within an interdisciplinary team.
Summarize an evidence-based interdisciplinary plan to address an organizational or patient issue.
Propose evidence-based criteria to evaluate the degree to which the project was successful in achieving the improvement goal.
Competency 5: Apply professional, scholarly, evidence-based communication strategies to impact patient, interdisciplinary team, and systems outcomes.
Slides are easy to read and error free. Detailed speaker notes are provided.
Organize content with clear purpose /goals and with relevant and evidence-based sources (published within 5 years) with an APA formatted reference list with few errors. -

“The Downfall of Retail Giants: Analyzing the Bankruptcies of Bed Bath & Beyond and Rite Aid”
1) Shawna Vaughan posted May 15, 2024 9:01 AM
Hello everyone,
Bed Bath & Beyond’s bankruptcy lead to closures which stemmed from a combination of factors. Firstly, the company struggled to keep pace with changing consumer preferences, especially with the shift towards online shopping. Secondly, it faced competition from both traditional discount retailers like Walmart and specialty online platforms like Wayfair. Bed Bath & Beyond didn’t keep a clear brand image, so people saw its stores as boring and messy essentially. Its way of pricing, depending on big discounts and coupons, made profits smaller and pushed away customers. Problems inside the company, like changes in leadership and management troubles, made things worse. If they had acted quickly and well, by improving online shopping, organizing stores better, and adjusting prices, they might have avoided closing down. But because they didn’t change fast enough, Bed Bath & Beyond failed and had to shut its doors.

Greetings class,
For today’s discussion, I am going to cover the well-known Pharmacy Rite Aid and their filing of Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in October. Not only was the retail industry in major trouble from inflation, supply chain issues, and online competition, but pharmacies were also facing another unique challenge. Like Walgreens and CVS, Rite Aid was forced to settle costly lawsuits coming from accusations of illegally prescribing opioid prescriptions for customers. On top of this, Rite Aid had a sizable debt that it was not able to get under control. Debt accumulated from losing business to more consumer-friendly competition such as Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Costco. These retailers are nationwide and offer a one-stop shop model that Rite Aid cannot compete with. Lastly, Rite Aid cited losses due to an increase in theft at certain locations. The theft was so bad that some locations had to close.
Rite Aid is an example of how even a major company, with many locations, is never safe from collapse. A big corporation may be able to stave off bankruptcy when dealing with one major problem, but when the problems start to add up, the end is almost inevitable.
