    Title: Applying Transpersonal Caring Principles to Improve Interactions in a Surgical Ward: A Case Study Analysis Title: “Effective Writing Techniques for Scholarly Papers and Reports”

    Using the following case study:
    Discuss any value assumptions seen within interactions in the case study.
    Explain how the principles of transpersonal caring can be applied to improve the interactions in the case study.
    You are a third year nursing student on placement in a very busy surgical ward in a large regional public hospital. You have been asked to complete a pain assessment on Orianna, an 82 year old lady who had a surgical intervention to repair a fractured R) NOF after a fall at home. Orianna’s past history includes, caesarean sections, hemorrhoids, HT, bipolar disorder and ADD (attention deficit disorder). Orianna usually lives independently at home, is independent with her ADL’s and uses public transport to go shopping and for socialising. She is single, has two adult children, one lives interstate and the other overseas. Orianna enjoys volunteering at the local high school where she helps students who have disability with their studies.
    You notice how incredibly busy the ward is and how stressed the nurses look. The surgical ward has recently introduced caring theory into their pain assessment because feedback indicated it was an area that needed improvement. You see nursing staff carrying lanyards with the 10 caritas processes as prompts in the pain assessment and decorative cards for patients to choose non pharmacological caring-healing modalities as a complement to traditional pharmacological modalities. You have been given a lanyard by your buddy nurse and some of the decorative cards. You are enthusiastic about using these in the pain assessment. You enter Orianna’s room, introduce yourself and begin the assessment introducing the decorative cards. Orianna yells at you, swears at you and tells you to go away and never come back.
    You leave the room and tell your buddy nurse what has happened. Your RN asks you to reflect on the principles of transpersonal teaching focusing on caritas process 7, promotion of transpersonal teaching and learning. In a caring relationship, this helps you stay within the frame of reference of your patient. Your buddy nurse suggests when you go back to see Orianna, you base your interaction on an understanding of these principles as a person with unique needs and as a basis for ethical, person centered care in practice.
    You take time preparing before you go back to Orianna’s room. When you return you approach with a caring attitude and a focus on a caring-healing modality. You ask about her children and volunteer work and she begins to open up about the things most important in her life.
    Please structure your essay as follows:
    Introduction (approximately 100 words):
    Include an introduction that sets out the overall structure of the essay.
    Part One (approx. 400 words):
    Discuss any value assumptions seen within interactions in the case study.
    Part Two (approx. 1000 words):
    Explain how the principles of transpersonal caring can be applied to improve the interactions in the case study.
    Conclusion (approximately 100 words):
    Include a conclusion that briefly describes how the principles of transpersonal caring addressed the identified value assumptions, thus improving the interactions in the case study.
    This assessment task will assess the following learning outcome/s:
    explain how transpersonal care principles can be applied to patient care.
    demonstrate knowledge of the application of value assumptions in caring moments.
    Guidelines:
    Dot points, tables, lists, colloquial language and shorthand are NOT acceptable.
    Do not use informal language or jargon.
    Use the CSU library search engines to access information. General web searches will not provide you with information of sufficient quality to pass this assessment.
    APA 7th edition conventions should be used for in text citations and in the reference list.
    The paper is a piece of academic writing and should therefore adhere to academic writing conventions. Full sentences and paragraphs, spelling and grammar should be thoughtfully constructed throughout.
    Sub-headings are acceptable.
    Scholarly papers, reports, or other similar assessment items must be ‘word processed’ and not handwritten. Requirements include:
    Double line space your work;
    Use 12pt font, Arial, Calibri or Times New Roman;
    Number all pages;
    Insert student name and number in header or footer of every page of every assessment; and
    Include a title page that includes the subject name and code, title of the assessment task, due date, lecturer’s name, student’s name and student’s number
    This assessment must be written in third person.

    Understanding Interest Rates and Risk In this initial forum discussion, we will be exploring the concept of interest rates and risk through three informative videos. These videos cover topics such as inflation and interest rates, pure expectations theory, and real risk-free rate. Through “Calculating the Real Risk-Free Rate of Return Using the 30-Day Treasury Bill”

    Initial Forum Discussions (400-word) must be posted in both the discussion board and via SafeAssign. Note that websites of the “wiki” variety are not considered scholarly resources and should not be used as references. Two references required.
    discussion post to the three videos
    (1.5 hours) These video lessons allow students to connect the dots between theory and practice by reading short passages, watching videos, and practicing what they’ve learned. The topics include inflation and interest rates (40 min), pure expectations theory (35 min), and real risk-free rate (15 min).
    Video 1
    Nominal and real interest rates. First off, nominal interest rates. Nominal interest rates are the interest rates that you see in the market. Alright? That’s like how much you’re paid on a bank CD or what the coupon rate on a bond is or something like that. While those are useful, you’ve got to be careful because what you really want to concentrate on are not nominal interest rates, but real interest rates. Real interest rates are the nominal interest rates, but then minus the inflation rate. So the real interest rate gets you to the true kind of rate of return once you adjust for inflation. Alright. So you see why this is important, think about how distortionary inflation could be. Alright. You could have a nominal interest rate on, say, a bank savings account of five percent. You think that you’re doing pretty well. Your money’s growing by five percent. Yeah, but not really. If the inflation rate is at four percent, then what happens is your real interest rate — the real rate of return, again, once it adjusts for inflation — is only one percent. Or think about what happens if that nominal rate is five percent and the inflation rate turns out to be six percent. Then you get a negative real interest rate. What that means is in real terms, when adjusted for inflation, the value of your money is actually falling. Even though you may have a positive nominal interest rate, the real interest rate can actually be negative. So that’s why it’s important to understand the difference between nominal and real interest rates.
    Video 2
    The pure expectations theory is used to try to explain the yield curve. Here’s the basic idea. The pure expectations theory says that the yield on longer-term bonds is made up of what the market expects the yield to be on shorter-term bonds in the future. All right, to see how this works, think of a very simple example. All right, think about a two-year bond, right? You could buy a two-year bond, hold the thing to maturity. Or what you could do is you could hold a sequence of two one-year bonds. All right? So to make you indifferent between the yield on a two-year bond and the two consecutive one-year bonds, uh-uh — yields have to be the same. So think about holding two consecutive one-year bonds. All right, you’ve got the yield on a one-year bond today, plus then, you have the expectation of what you think the one-year bond is going to pay in the one year from now. So the average of those two things, the average of what the one-year pays today and what you think the one-year is going to pay in one year, the average of those two things has to equal the two-year bond, right, to make you indifferent. So what, then, determines the yield on the two-year bond? Well, it is the yield on the one-year bond plus what you expect the one-year bond to pay in the one year. And that is the idea of the pure expectations theory, that the yield on longer-term bonds is made up in great part by what we expect short-term bonds to pay in the future.
    Video 3
    You read in The Wall Street Journal that 30-day Treasury bills are currently yielding 5.8%. Your brother-in-law, a broker at Safe and Sound Securities, has given you the following estimates of current interest rate premiums. Inflation premium, 3.25%; liquidity premium, 0.6%; maturity risk premium, 1.85%; default risk premium, 2.15%. On the basis of these data, what is the real risk-free rate of return? The real risk-free rate of return would be the interest rate that would exist on default-free U.S. Treasury securities if no inflation were expected. That is, the real risk-free rate is equal to the nominal risk-free rate minus any expected inflation. We are given the 30-day Treasury bill is yielding 5.8%. We will use the 30-day Treasury bill to approximate the short-term risk-free rate. So the nominal risk-free rate is 5.8%. The inflation premium is given at 3.25%. Therefore, the real risk-free rate is equal to the nominal risk-free rate minus the inflation premium, which gives us a real risk-free rate of 2.55%.

    “Creating Inclusive Workplaces: A Comprehensive Analysis and DEI Initiative Plan for [Company Name]” Title: “Reimagining Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A Comprehensive Initiative for Company X” Introduction: Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have become increasingly important topics in the corporate world. Companies are recognizing the

    Research the DEI initiatives of each of the companies you selected.
    Search for secondary sources (not coming from the company) about the DEI situation at each company.
    Review the information you retrieved on your companies’ DEI initiatives. For each of the three companies:
    Describe the inequities the company states (e.g. biases, forms of discrimination) and their target audience (e.g. women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA);
    Identify the actions the company has implemented (or promises to implement) to address these inequities;
    Describe the main points of what others say about the company’s DEI efforts (make sure to cite the source);
    Evaluate the initiative using the course materials (readings, class slides, assignments) and your own research;
    Suggest ways in which the initiative can be improved.
    Document every step of your research process overall (not by company):
    How did you go about finding information on your companies’ DEI initiatives? (e.g. googled ‘ [company name]’s DEI initiatives’, Wikipedia, went on [company name]’s website, etc.). Were you satisfied with your search results?
    What tools did you use, and what prompts did you input? (e.g. ChatGPT, Grammarly…remember: it’s all fair game, as long as you document it).
    What materials did you use for your evaluations and improvement suggestions?
    Please use the numbering above to indicate which questions you are answering. No need to  repeat the prompt. Here’s an EXAMPLE for structuring your submission:
    Land O’Lakes, Halliburton, Ally Financial
    Land O’Lakes
    Inequities mentioned by Land O’Lakes
    Actions Land O’Lakes has implemented/promises to implement
    What you’ve learned through other sources about DEI at Land O’Lakes
    Your evaluation
    Your suggestions for improvement
    Halliburton
    Inequities mentioned by Halliburton
    Actions Halliburton has implemented/promises to implement
    What you’ve learned through other sources about DEI at Halliburton
    Your evaluation
    Your suggestions for improvement
    Ally Financial
    Inequities mentioned by Ally Financial
    Actions Ally Financial has implemented/promises to implement
    What you’ve learned through other sources about DEI at Ally Financial
    Your evaluation
    Your suggestions for improvement
    5.a.      I googled ‘DEI’ for each company, and I went to their websites. It was difficult to find DEI information on [company name]’s website, so I googled ‘Diversity at {company name]’ and found out that they have been criticized
    5.b.      I put the following prompt into ChatGPT: …/I had Grammarly check my draft…
    5.c.      I used the suggestions for institutional action to stop microaggressions from Ch. 4 of SAE….
    CHOOSEN 3 Companies Are TARGET, ULTA BEAUTY, VICTORIA’s SECRET
    Part 2
    Your assignment is to design a DEI initiative for one of the companies you have researched. You should select the company you have assessed as needing the most improvements.
    In order to develop an effective DEI initiative, it is essential that you apply the concepts and materials of this class both to your evaluation of the current situation and your proposed improvements. To do so, you will first flesh out the work you did in Part I of the Final Project for your chosen company, then you will design specific actions and create an implementation plan for your initiative.
    Starting with your answers to Instruction #4 from Part I, conduct an in-depth analysis of your chosen company:
    Describe in detail the inequities the company states (e.g. biases, forms of discrimination) and their target audience (e.g. women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA). Include statistics, graphs, or other information shared by the company.
    Identify and give a detailed description of the actions the company has implemented (or promises to implement) to address these inequities.
    Describe what others say about the company’s DEI efforts (make sure to cite the source). If available, include quantitative assessments and comparisons to other companies.
    Evaluate the initiative using course materials (readings, class slides, assignments) and your own research: What works, what doesn’t, what is missing? Explain why.
    Based on your in-depth analysis, develop an improved DEI initiative for your chosen company:
    Design specific, realistic, and sustainable actions to form an effective DEI initiative. Explain how your initiative is sustainable.
    Create an implementation plan, including a timeline, milestones, targets, and expected outcomes.

    “Delving Deeper into Kate Chopin’s ‘The Story of an Hour’: Exploring Themes and Motivations”

    Each post, 500 at least words in length. Read all the information that is posted, regarding author, historical, and textual background before you respond to the thread. You should include quotes from the text as reference in proper MLA documentation which will improve your grade.
    Read Kate Chopin′s ″The Story of an Hour″ (in Course Documents), while annotating the text and/or
    taking notes. Discuss your response to
    the piece including what you liked and why, what you didn’t like and why, and
    one theme you see Chopin trying to get across in/through the story.
    WHY?- This is the most important question to ask always, followed closely by
    HOW? This is because these are the only
    questions that elicit more than a one word answer, which is all WHAT, WHERE,
    WHO, and WHEN questions usually require. WHY and HOW questions provide you with the most information, which is
    why, when children are learning about things and the world, they are
    continually asking WHY? Because this provides the most information. Therefore, all semester when you are reading
    these texts you should ask yourself WHY?, why is a character doing this, why is
    he saying this, why is the author creating this situation/scenario, etc. and
    what does this all add up to or what message is he/she trying to get
    across. This will help you to perform
    thematic readings of the text, delve deeper, and get a better understanding of
    the time of composition of any text, the author’s views, etc.

    “The Debate over American Imperialism: Examining the Motives and Arguments of the Republican Party in the Late 19th Century” “The Fight for Recognition: Bois’s The Souls of Black Folk and Ames’s Call for Inclusion in American Society”

    The Republican victory in 1896 gave heart to proponents of prosperity through foreign trade.   McKinley sought neither war nor colonies, but many in his party wanted both. Called “jingos,” they included Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Theodore Roosevelt; John Hay, the ambassador to London, and senators Albert Beveridge and Henry Cabot Lodge.  Britain, France, and Germany were seizing territory around the world, and jingos believed the United States needed to do the same for strategic, religious, and economic reasons.

    chapter 17 information
    Chapter Overview | Freedom’s Boundaries, at Home and Abroad (1890–1900)
    This chapter concentrates on the limitations of freedom, including those affecting farmers, immigrants, Blacks, women, and colonial subjects. The chapter opens with the Homestead Strike, which demonstrated that neither a powerful union nor public opinion could influence the conduct of the largest corporations. Farmers also illustrated that not everyone benefited from the prosperity of the industrial revolution. The chapter examines how farmers mobilized into a political force culminating in the 1892 organization of the Populist Party. Attempting to build a broad base, the Populists courted labor, women, and Black farmers, but their party dissolved after the defeat of William Jennings Bryan in 1896. Also discussed is the rise of the American Federation of Labor and the trend away from inclusiveness within the labor movement. The chapter then explores the New South. After Reconstruction, Blacks faced disenfranchisement, threat from the lynch rope, and Jim Crow laws sanctioned by the Supreme Court’s decision in Plessy v. Ferguson. Booker T. Washington took a different approach in dealing with the limitations of freedom put on Blacks, preaching a policy of accommodation and vocational education.
    The new immigrants from southern and eastern Europe faced growing restrictions on their freedom in the face of nativism. The Chinese were singled out and permanently excluded from immigrating to America in 1882, and they had to fight through the court system to gain a few liberties. Women, barred from suffrage, were nonetheless politically active in clubs and national organizations like the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. All these groups, then, found ways to compensate for the limitations placed on them. The chapter ends by examining America’s rise to world power. In the course of expanding abroad in search of markets and new frontiers, America fought Spain in 1898 and won for itself several territorial possessions. With the annexation of the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico, the United States took on an imperial role. With imperialism came the formation of the Anti-Imperialist League, and many were fearful of the consequences of a new overseas empire for the republic. Voices of Freedom (Primary Source document feature) includes a portion of “Lynch Law in All Its Phases” (1893), a speech by Ida B. Wells on the evils of lynching. Another Voices of Freedom section comes from W. E. B. Du Bois’s The Souls of Black Folk (1903), in which he calls for the recognition of Blacks as full members of American society. Who Is an American? (Primary Source document feature) provides a portion of Charles G. Ames’s 1898 address to anti-imperialists in Boston.
