If one of the finalists were to leave or become disgruntled, it would be devastating for the organization. Many of the board members believe that the finalists should not have the privilege of knowing what went into the decision; they believe the board’s say is final, regardless of how it affects the finalists. As a key board member overseeing the promotion process, how would you go about making a decision?

Heather- Even though this is a difficult decision as a board member  I would have to say at firs, I would talk to the other board members how crucial it is to find our suitable candidate that provide all the KSAOs for the benefit and success of our company’s goals. To me its best to find the right one and have our company values and goals upfront, besides worrying about losing a candidate. I say that because our company is like that they hold on to people for the wrong reason and sometimes they are part of the problem, I don’t think companies should lean on this issue and have poor management in position and cause more devastation for the company. I don’t want us to pick someone based on “who we know” rather than the KSAOs. 
    However, if they refuse and I am left with one to choose, if this candidate is the best we have internal, then I would like for us to explain the reason to the rest of the finalists based on our decision and why we pick who we pick. Internal recruitment is the process of identifying and attracting current employees for open jobs. They have numerous advantages: they already know the organization’s culture, they have already developed relationships with coworkers, and they may require less training than external hires. Being honest and upright with the people will allow them to know how to improve as a greater leader in the organization. Even as a Senior Lead my plant manager encourage me to go back to school and told me some of my weaknesses he would like to improve. I mean depends on how you go about it and look at it. Even when I had an interview, and they find a more suitable supervisor, and she told me since I only had 2 years of supervision, the required 5 and even though I have a lot of knowledge, and skills I could bring to the company they like me to have some more years as a supervisor. I understand and respect it when she call and let me know, she was very polite and I was disappointed but understand, they look for the best candidates to help achieve their companies goal. So, we should provide feedback to our internal recruiters as well.
    Despite the decision because we cannot please all candidates that’s internal, if we follow the Policies Development and Policy Implementation, then we are showing fairness amongst the candidates.     This assessment includes two connected parts. Both depend on your working with a dataset of your making or choosing; a list of repositories for open-source datasets will be included on the course’s Learn site.
    Begin by examining your dataset. What questions might you ask about the data? What key findings emerge from this examination? Why should we care about your dataset? Summarise your answer to ‘Why should we care about your dataset?’ in a single sentence of no more than 75 words. This sentence is the equivalent of a thesis statement, and must make some kind of argument.
    Part 1: Show us why we should care through data visualisations. Use R to create two visualisations for your dataset. One of these visualisations must be a bar chart, as we have practised in class. It must include at least: data; a title; axis and range/variable labels; reasonable scale(s); and a data source. Your second visualisation may be in a form of your choosing, and will require you to self-direct your learning using some of the many available R resources. This visualisation must demonstrate R proficiency and good practice for data visualisations as we have outlined in class. It must be an appropriate selection for your argument. Each of your two visualisations must be accommodated by a short explanation of its relevance to your above sentence (no more than 100 words for each). You must include the code used to generate each of these visualisations, and this code must include short explanatory comments.
    Part 2: Imagine how else you might tell the story of your data using at least some digital technology. Propose an alternative digitally-based or digitally-informed data visualisation/presentation form that you could (hypothetically) pursue. On a single A4 page, propose your idea, also making note of what data you would use to pursue it. You may use text and/or imagery as you wish; there is no minimum or maximum word count for this assessment. Your proposal must relate to your dataset in some way, and should meaningfully contribute to reader understanding of why they should care about your dataset.
    Your submission must include references to at least two academic sources, at least one ‘training’ source (i.e. a source that you used in your self-directed learning), and at least one popular source (minimum total of four sources). These references must be integrated through in-text citations, and must adhere to APA style. You must reference any unoriginal assets, tutorials, and/or training modules used.
    All elements of this assessment must be included in a single submission. In this submission, you must include: a link to your dataset, or the dataset itself; your single-sentence answer to ‘Why should we care about your dataset?’; both of your data visualisations from Part 1, as well as the full codes used to generate them (with explanatory comments); your one-page proposal for an alternative data visualisation/presentation from Part 2; and your list of references.

    major topics covered. Tell the reader why you took the course and what
    educational benefits you expected from the course.
    Identify the theories and core concepts that were presented
    during the course. Explain each theory or concept in your own words to
    demonstrate your understanding of the material.
    Describe your feelings about the theories and concepts
    presented in the course and then analyze them by applying the concepts and
    theories to real life experiences, if possible. Tell the reader about your
    feelings on the subject of the course, and describe how and why (or why not)
    your feelings about the subject, theories and core concepts changed or
    developed during the course.
    Conclude the reflective paper with a summary of your
    feelings about the course material in the beginning of the course. Summarize
    your feelings after the course was completed. State how the course helped or
    did not help you.

    Instructions:
    Using the material on moral compasses from weeks 1 and 2, write a paper of no less than 600 words that accomplishes the following:
    Choose one of the four templates, Markkula- APA or MLA, or Brown – APA or MLA, and follow directions. The information below offers an elaboration on these directions.
    In a section titled “Theories” identify between 1 and 3 moral theories you will use to build your compass (deontological, utilitarian, common good, virtue, etc.) along with a short, documented definition for each theory. The definition should be in your own words. As citations are NOT just for quotations, be sure to give your resources proper credit with citations.
    In a section titled “Explanation” explain for each theory how it would help you make what you feel would be the right decision and in what situations (e.g. Using deontology at work to ensure the company’s policies are kept and its reputation is upheld; Using care ethics at home as a way to be equitable with the kids, etc.).
    In a third section titled “Compass Applied” choose one topic from the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics (under “Ethics Spotlight”) or another pressing ethical situation you or others you know are facing at the moment. It must be a legitimate moral conundrum like keeping a secret about a cheating spouse, cheating on a spouse or being an accessory to a crime. You can also pick a current event like the possibility of electing a convicted felon as president, busing illegal immigrants from Texas to other states without their permission, or passing laws that allow teens to work longer hours and in dangerous situations. Then using either Framework for Ethical Decision Making (Markkula or Brown), walk through the steps to make an ethical decision and justify what you decide is the moral action to take in this situation. USE the template and DO NOT delete the section headings.
    Be sure to be clear on which of the two frameworks you are using (which is easy if you use a template). Be sure you are clear on what you are doing. Use the attached templates to address this assignment. The content is the same, but the formatting on each is different.
    Note that all papers must be double-spaced and follow either APA or MLA formatting.
